WHY STRANGE SEASONS?
Because what you burn in your home matters.
Not all candles are made from the same materials.
At Strange Seasons Candle Co., we intentionally choose a soy + coconut wax blend, wood wicks, and carefully selected fragrance oils because we believe customers deserve to know what goes into the candles they bring into their homes.
🌿 OUR WAX CHOICE
Our candles are made with a plant-based soy + coconut wax blend rather than traditional petroleum-based paraffin wax.
Paraffin is derived from petroleum, and research has found that burning candles can produce volatile organic compounds (VOCs), fine particulate matter, soot and other combustion byproducts. Studies of candle emissions have detected compounds including formaldehyde, benzene, toluene and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). The composition and quality of the wax, fragrance and wick can influence what is emitted during burning.
That doesn't mean every paraffin candle creates dangerous exposure—but it does mean candle composition matters.
🔥 OUR WOOD WICKS
We choose wood wicks for their beautiful natural crackle and distinctive flame.
A properly sized wick is important for any candle. An improperly burning or sooting candle can increase particulate emissions, which is why we carefully test our candles for proper wick performance.
🌸 OUR FRAGRANCE CHOICE
We carefully select fragrance oils and review the safety information provided by our fragrance suppliers.
Where possible, we choose fragrances with Proposition 65 compliance information and avoid fragrances that require a Proposition 65 warning for listed chemicals when suitable alternatives are available.
🕯️ WHY NOT JUST MAKE A "CHEAP" CANDLE?
Because inexpensive materials aren't always the materials we want to put in our customers' homes.

Our candles are not represented as risk-free or "chemical-free." All candles involve combustion and can produce emissions. We encourage responsible candle use, including proper wick trimming and ventilation.
