Before & After: This basement was ready for an update!

Each room felt separate from the others, so our goal was to open up the space and create better flow while still defining three distinct areas—the family/TV room, billiards/game area and bar.

By opening up the walls and adding architectural details to help define the spaces, we completely changed the way the basement looks, feels and functions.

Powder rooms are one of my favorite places to go bold.

Because they’re small, they’re the perfect place to use a wallpaper pattern that might feel like too much in a larger room.

Wallpaper completely transformed the first powder room—and no major renovation needed!
From a bold all-over pattern to an unexpected wallpapered ceiling, I love using these smaller spaces of the home to have a little fun with color and pattern.

Color makes a house feel like home. 💙

Timeless interiors don’t have to be beige. For this room, we used Sherwin-Williams Indigo Batik (SW 7602) on the walls and layered in shades of blue and cream through the upholstery, custom drapery and pillows. Satin brass accents add just the right amount of warmth and help balance the deeper color.

Some of my favorite elements are in the details—the mix of fabrics and patterns, contrast welt on the pillows, and the tailored pleating on the sofa skirt. It’s those little details that really pull a room together and make it feel finished.

A room can have plenty of personality and still feel timeless.
