This house was built in the 1980s, and the primary bath was in dire need of a remodel—not just aesthetically, but functionally as well. It was obvious to me from the start that the shower and tub areas needed to be flipped. The bathroom isn’t large, and the shower took up valuable space in the middle of the room. The tub was oversized, but that area was much better suited for a spacious primary shower. In order to make this change, we had to remove the non-functioning fireplace.
This adorable client loves florals, so we were able to have fun with the tile. I’ve used this tile previously in a Dallas remodel, but in the blue/black version. We created the tile pattern and layout using the different options available from this vendor—it’s such a playful material! I took the tile to Sherwin Williams and had it color-matched for the vanity so the color would be an exact match. I paired it with gold lighting and cabinet hardware to add elegance to the space.
I found the artwork over the tub at HomeGoods. I had to walk by it twice because I couldn’t believe it was almost an exact match for the tile! For artwork, I knew we had to either lean into the floral or go neutral. We leaned in! I couldn’t imagine a better fit for the tub than this piece.
The funny part to me was that I assumed the men would not love the bathroom because it’s more feminine and floral. But my cabinet hardware installer, painter, and photographer all loved it—especially my installer. He kept raving about it, and he sees all of my remodels. :)
Now this client has a happy, fun, light, bright, and serene primary suite. It was such a joy working with her!
