Selecting a white paint color seems easy. In reality, it can take a good bit of thought depending on fabrics, tiles, furniture finishes, and other elements that will be in the space. Undertones can read yellow, pink, green, and the list goes on. But when the right one is selected, it completes the design. We cannot wait for this primary bedroom to be completed!

We custom designed the entry door of this Tudor style home to add light and modernize the space while still respecting the architectural style of the home. It is like a completely different place! A treasured piece of art can evoke memories about how, when and where a particular piece was acquired or "came to be". This is a painting of our client's three daughters painted by a street artist in Asia, while they were living there many years ago. All grown up and one "just married", the painting holds a lot of sentimental value and is part of the dining space we created for memorable occasions. The rich floral touches underneath make the subtle shadings of the painting pop. We love to fulfill special requests for our clients!

Updating a space in your home does not always require a complete overhaul. A few updates can dramatically change the look of the room. We updated the fireplace by removing the hearth and the “dated” black tile, replacing it with a beautiful marble mosaic tile. No need to replace the original mantel, it still works! We added shelves and accessories over the TV and a beautiful navy linen console by , which fit perfectly. The art and accessories have hints of the ocean, not too literal, which is a daily reminder of their beach home, when they cannot be there. We also removed the glass fireplace doors and added a simple but gorgeous fireplace screen, a new side chair and coffee table and it looks like a completely different room!

Pattern mixing in interior design requires a careful balance of scale, color, and imagery to achieve a cohesive and visually appealing design. Successful pattern combinations will complement rather than clash or overwhelm one another. Selecting a dominant pattern with secondary, subtler patterns helps create hierarchy and balance, while maintaining enough variation to keep the design lively yet unified. The final composition will feel intentional, dynamic, and sophisticated.
 
In this design, the drapery fabric is the dominant pattern with high contrast and a larger motif. The small pattern in the velvet chair fabric is more subtle, creating interest with the tan and white lower contrast that does not complete with the drapery fabric. At first glance, it might not seem like the two fabrics would play well together. However, there are colors throughout the space (complete project reveal coming soon) that tie everything together, ensuring a unified space that is not boring!

We recently completed our From Leadership With Love Project installation. What a joy to work with a fabulous team of designers and industry partners to complete home updates for deserving foster families in Partnership with Pathways Youth and Family Services. Our little client received a Dinosaur room and our family will also enjoy a back patio update to include a beautiful fire pit for family hangouts. The mastermind of this initiative, Linda Baker inspired we three additional former presidents to design, procure and complete four home updates in and around DFW. Having the families at our IDS event on Thursday was extra special. Thanks to all who attended and helped us celebrate.
