3 Queens Shutters was founded in 2015, but it’s been in development in the minds and hearts of sisters Michele and Sharon for years. Their father was a furniture designer and upholsterer, and their mother “Queenie” loved home decorating and interior design, too. Growing up, the sisters showed promise in design, style and home improvement, oftentimes helping each other, family and friends make important decisions about decorating, real estate, home improvement, window treatments and more.

A few years ago, Michele retired from the United States Postal Service and joined sister Sharon in pursuit of their long-time passion. Both always entrepreneurs, Michele started spending more time buying and selling homes, flipping several for profit. Sharon contributed her interior design skills. What they learned quickly were the many ways to simply add value to a home. Most striking to them was “The power of the plantation shutter.”

She noted the difference in reaction of home owners and potential home buyers in the presence of shutters. A home’s ambiance was instantly improved and homes sold faster and higher with custom, stylish window treatments. She proved the theory to her sisters as they both sold and purchased new homes.
