As most city-dwelling property owners do when trimming a tree, the branches and leaves head to the curb or the firewood stack. It is said with age comes wisdom. on with my past to the compost pile or the fire pit, a desire arose to find a better purpose for what this tree had grown over several decades. What emerged was a passion to create unique and functional furniture and accessories using the medium of wood. Thus was born Blue Valley Woodworks. Many of our creations use the trimmings of the Red Oak tree from the home of my youth. We also seek out other felled trees from around here to repurpose the larger branches and trunks, preserving the natural edge as much as possible. Aging wood for use in furniture takes time, so we draw from the hardwood purveyor for the larger pieces of maple, mahogany, oak, pecan, and whatever else suits our fancy at the time. The pieces we create and offer are inspired by what we would ourselves use. And we hope you like what you see.
