Founded in 1986 and previously known as Oriental Danny, Danny's Fine Porcelain continues to offer porcelain decorative accessories to the wholesale industry segment. Our history and how we got our name.....
The story began in 1986, when Danny and Cindy Chan uprooted their family from the comforts and familiarity of Hong Kong and immigrated to the land of opportunity, the United States. It was a
giant leap of faith, with the sole purpose of providing a brighter future for their three young daughters and it didn’t take long for Danny’s entrepreneurial spirit to kick in. With meager savings enough to purchase an 18-foot box truck and a small batch of fine porcelain home décor, he mounted display shelves in the truck and his mobile showroom was born. Before the existence of internet, GPS and Google Translate, Danny relied heavily on a Mapsco and a Chinese to English Dictionary to navigate around town. He targeted potential customers by driving long hours searching for furniture stores, gift shops and anyone that would be remotely interested in his products. In his very limited English vocabulary, Danny persistently sold door to door, until slowly but surely, he built a steady clientele base. In an effort to leave a lasting first impression on new clients, Danny introduced and referred to himself as “Oriental Danny”. The unique name stuck as customers asked to speak to Oriental Danny to reorder products. Naturally, the growing business would get its name from the founder himself: Oriental Danny, Inc. quickly outgrew the box truck and into its first rented warehouse near the World Trade Center in Dallas, Texas. Danny and Cindy frequently traveled overseas on buying trips, diligently searching and importing the best porcelain décor on the market. Meanwhile, Danny’s dreams of a bright future for his daughters were realized when all graduated from respected universities. The entrepreneurial spirit and torch were passed down, as daughters Astor and Ada, their vision is to expanded Oriental Danny from its local base to a nationwide supplier. Almost three decades later, Oriental Danny has become an industry recognized supplier in home decorative porcelain and lamps; warehousing over 80,000 square feet with permanent showrooms all over the country in all major trade shows. Oriental Danny will still hold true to its humble beginnings and lessons learned along the way: the great value of hard work, importance of customer relationships and consistent delivery of exquisite decorative products to the trade. We hope you’ve been blessed by our story of the American Dream, achieved thanks to our loyal customers, who many have turned into friends
