Story Time:
Back in October, I came across a Catoberfest event looking for vendors. The vendor fee was reasonable, and I figured—even if I don’t make any money, the vendor fee is going towards a great cause. So I decided to take the chance 🐾 It was a lot of work, but I learned so much and I sold a lot of pottery.
Since then, I sold my pottery at the Bowen Art’s Center, Suwanee Clayworks Holiday Shop, a Valentine’s Day market at Accent Cellars, & a spring market at 52 West Brewing. Each event has been so different. I’ve been enjoying trying new venues and styles of selling in hopes of finding the right fit for me.
I’m not a people person or very social, but it has been so fun connecting with customers and other artists. It’s weird hearing people call you can artist or obsess over your work. Listening to them tell stories about how your art reminds them of a special memory or person is so rewarding. This week, someone told me they have been collecting my pieces and can’t wait until my next event to add more. Another, got emotional telling me that a piece reminded her of her cat that had just passed away. I’ve always known art was powerful, but I never thought I’d be creating those moments.
I truly have no idea where I want to go with this little side adventure of mine. For now, I’m soaking in the learning experience and cherishing the special moments.
