This is my first time drawing Sammy since she passed in December 2024. Some longtime followers might wonder why you rarely saw drawings of her before.

Part of it was that I wasn’t in the right mental space to draw for a long time, which is why there’s such a big gap between ohkahmi and iikoshop. Then after Sammy was diagnosed with MUE, I didn’t really know how to share her story anymore. I didn’t want to draw the hard moments she went through, but pretending those moments didn’t exist didn’t feel right either.

So I kept a lot of it private while we focused on spending as much time together as we could. And boy, we had a blast! I’m still processing her passing, but I wanted to draw her for her birthday this week.
