Chef SEBA, born Sebastian Nowak, is a passionate artisan baker based in Des Plaines, Illinois, renowned for his dedication to crafting authentic sourdough bread. His journey into the culinary world began at the age of 15 when he enrolled in a culinary school, where he honed his skills over three years. At 18, he immigrated to the United States, embarking on a new chapter that started in the automotive industry. Starting as a porter washing cars, Sebastian's determination saw him rise through the ranks: from a hiker transporting vehicles between auctions to a weekend salesman, then a full-time salesman, and eventually ascending to roles such as sales manager, finance manager, finance director, and general manager. Despite his success in the car business, his passion for baking remained unwavering. Driven by this passion, Sebastian transitioned back to the culinary arts, focusing on the art of sourdough bread. He established his own venture, offering the community in Des Plaines and beyond a taste of genuine, handcrafted sourdough loaves. His commitment to quality and authenticity has garnered a loyal following, with patrons praising the depth of flavor and craftsmanship in each loaf. Today, as Chef SEBA, Sebastian continues to share his love for sourdough, blending traditional techniques with his unique touch, ensuring every bite reflects his journey, dedication, and the rich tapestry of experiences that have shaped his culinary path.

Funny moment today! A woman called wanting to pick up SEBA bread. I texted her my address, and she replied, “Oh my God, I’m in San Diego!” 😂 She found me through Google and didn’t realize I’m in Des Plaines. I’m grateful for SEBA’s high Google rating and that the quality, story behind my bread, and customer service are helping people discover us from so far away. 🥖💛
