Day 5 of Ocean Relief Camp 🌊🎨

What an incredible way to finish our creative journey together!

Today, our artists completed the final details on their ocean creatures, adding patterns, lines, and symbols inspired by artistic traditions and cultures from around the world. Every piece became a unique reflection of the artist behind it.

But creating the artwork was only part of the experience.

The students also worked on artist statements, taking time to reflect on their creative choices, their inspiration, and the message behind their work. Learning how to talk about their art is just as important as learning how to create it.

Watching them prepare to share their ideas with family and friends has been such a rewarding experience. The growth in their creativity, confidence, problem-solving, and artistic skills this week has been truly amazing.

I am so proud of each and every one of these young artists and all they accomplished during Ocean Relief Camp. 💜

Day 4 of Ocean Relief Camp! 🌊🎨

Today our young artists focused on adding value to their sea creatures, using highlights and shadows to bring their creations to life. We also explored using paint markers to add details, patterns, and personality to both the creatures and their ocean-inspired backgrounds.

It’s amazing to see how much these projects have transformed from simple ideas into unique works of art. Every day the students gain more confidence, try new techniques, and make creative choices that are completely their own.

Tomorrow is our final day, and we can’t wait to put the finishing touches on these incredible pieces and celebrate everything our artists have accomplished this week! 💜

Day 3 of Ocean Relief Camp 🌊🎨

Today was all about painting techniques, adding texture with papier-mâché pulp, and planning sea creature designs inspired by patterns and artistic traditions from cultures around the world.

As I was editing today’s video, I found myself getting a little emotional.

When you’re in the middle of teaching, preparing materials, answering questions, and keeping everything moving, it’s easy to miss just how much growth is happening right in front of you.

But watching it back, I saw students taking creative risks, solving problems, building confidence, and having those incredible moments when something finally clicks. The smiles, the excitement, the pride in their work—it’s honestly amazing to see.

These young artists are creating something truly special, and I couldn’t be more proud of how far they’ve come in just three days. 💜

Day 2 of Ocean Relief Camp was a sticky one! 🌊🐙

Today our young artists rolled up their sleeves and tackled papier-mâché as they continued building their ocean creature sculptures. Let’s just say there was glue everywhere, messy hands all around, and a lot of laughter mixed in with the creativity.

These campers are working so hard, and it’s exciting to see their underwater creations starting to come to life!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I may need a nap after today’s glue-filled adventure. 😅

🌊🎨 Day 1 of Ocean 3D Relief Camp is complete!

Today our artists jumped right into the creative process, experimenting with color, texture, and design as they began building the foundations of their large-scale ocean artworks.

We talked about abstract art, explored artistic mark making, and got our hands messy turning ideas into reality. The students worked hard, showed great creativity, and are already off to an amazing start!

I can’t wait to see how these projects grow throughout the week as we add sculptural elements, paint, and lots of ocean-inspired details. 🐠🪸✨

There’s something so incredibly special about teaching children through art. 🎨💜

On the last day of ArtsyFartzy Club, one of my students handed me a handmade card, and it instantly brought me back to my years as a public school art teacher. Moments like this remind me why I love teaching so deeply.

Yes, I love teaching art techniques, creativity, and artistic skills — but what truly fills my heart is the connection that happens along the way. Watching students light up with excitement, gain confidence, express themselves, make meaningful connections, and feel proud of what they create is something I never take for granted.

Being trusted with even a small part of a child’s growth and creative journey is such a gift, and I’m endlessly grateful to the families who support programs like ArtsyFartzy Club. These moments matter more than you know. 💜
