Hey everybody! I know it’s been a hot minute since my last post, but Mrs. Craftstronaut and I have been hard at work getting the house ready for market. If we go under contract fairly quickly (hopefully) then I’ve already completed the last pieces to leave my little humble garage-turned-shop here in Newberry. The plant stands so far have been a hit and I look forward to making more this summer once we get settled in. I thank you all for the support & encouragement you’ve given me, and be rest assured the next chapter will be a big ramp up from what I’ve been doing thus far. Here’s a couple pics of the final things made to wrap up what’s been an adventurous year being a small business owner!

So, while a significant part of my business will be wood based crafts, furniture, etc. I’d like to emphasize the Shapeoko Pro CNC loves chewing up some aluminum as well. Took me a few tries to get the settings dialed in, and while the first piece turned out favorable, I had amazing results with the second! I would love to do a limited run of these with enough interest to keep prices down, but definitely reach out to me if you’d really like one and I’ll see what we can do! Next year I plan on having several snowflake designs to choose from…

Mrs. Craftstronaut’s birthday plant stand is finally finished and turned out pretty good! She definitely agrees that these would make a great gift. One very similar to hers would go for $100 using 1/2” black iron pipe & flanges, but prices will vary based on design elements and number of tiers on the stand. For hers I also added some feet on the bottom of the base, but they’ll also be available as a flat base version. I’m currently working on some “natural” leaf designs so you’ll have “planty” of options to choose from. 😂

All leaves will be custom carved on my Carbide3D Shapeoko Pro CNC machine and finished in your choice of stain and sheen. If you’re interested in a plant stand for yourself or as a gift please DM me and we’ll discuss how to make yours perfect!

The Craftstronaut has been busy working in his holiday workshop and has a few items just in time for Cyber Monday! These ornament trees were crafted especially for that one special ornament that needs its own space, and they're also great to give as a gift! There are currently 7 to choose from all with different stain, base, and star variations and each one can hold up to a 4" diameter ball... One of my fabulous clients (and neighbor) asked me to make a small step ladder for her pooch to climb up onto the bed. Here’s a sneak peek of the dry fitting before it was glued and clamped this morning. Having a CNC machine truly does open up a world of customized creation!

Earlier this year I invested in a benchtop, yet sizeable CNC machine to allow nearly unlimited creative potential with all my woodworking and custom manufacturing projects. Thus far it’s had a temporary home sitting atop one of the work benches I won on an online auction. Knowing it would need a rigid, beefy structure to maximize its performance and accuracy, and it only made sense to design and build it myself.!With just a few hiccups along the way, I’ve finally got her a respectable platform to carry out all current and future project featuring a custom designed and built torsion box and rolling table. Including the heavy duty 6 inch locking casters, the box and table contain 150 individually cut wood pieces, several of which interlock to give my investment some peace of mind.

Was asked by my fabulous wife to create a picture frame as a gift to one of her graduating students and here’s what she got! You can contact The Craftstronaut to create your own customized & personalized frame marking any milestone such as first day of Kindergarten, graduation from high school/college, award recipient, anniversary, etc. This particular frame holds a 4x6 photo.
