Not all quartzites are created equal โ€” and Crystallo proves it. โœจ

Crystallo is a natural quartzite, formed from sandstone under intense heat and pressure.

That process gives it a crystalline structure, making it one of the hardest, most durable natural stones you can put in your kitchen.

Hereโ€™s the breakdown:

โ€ขHardness: ~7 on the Mohs scale (marble sits at 3โ€“4)

โ€ขWonโ€™t easily etch from acidic foods like lemon, w**e, or vinegar โ€” a common marble problem

โ€ขNaturally translucent, which means it can be backlit for a glow effect no other countertop material can replicate

Save this for when you start shopping countertops โ€” youโ€™ll want to remember the difference. ๐Ÿ“Œ

Calacatta Monet deserves a permanent grid post. Itโ€™s genuine Italian marble, quarried from the iconic Carrara region.โœจ

When we say โ€œhottestโ€ we mean itโ€™s a premium pick, and one of our top designersโ€™ favorite selections for bringing a striking, high-end look to a space. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Calacatta Monet is celebrated for its bright white background streaked with rich, painterly veins of gold, violet, grey, and deep burgundy.

New slabs at Stratus Surfaces that have us swooning.

1. Hawaiian Mist Quartzite: soft gray-cream base with striking veining in teal-green and purple that winds through the stone. Naturally durable with the strength quartzite is known for.

2. Luxury Green Quartzite: soft taupe base with warm amber and gold veining running through in fine, cracked lines, along with soft rust-brown cloud-like patches for depth and movement. The finish is polished to a mirror-like shine, giving the stone a reflective, high-end look.

3. Emerald Sea Quartzite: bold, pebbled pattern of gray, taupe, and deep green pockets, each outlined by lighter tan-white veining, giving the surface a mosaic, cobblestone-like look โ€” though itโ€™s mostly smooth to the touch. The green pockets stand out against the muted gray-brown base for a rich, earthy feel with a lot of natural movement.

4. Serenity Blue Dolomite: white and cream stone that shifts into soft gray-blue veining. A bit softer than quartzite, so it needs routine sealing and quick cleanup on acidic spills (w**e, citrus, coffee) to avoid etching โ€” but it holds up beautifully with basic care

If our favorite loved one didnโ€™t know which countertop material they wantedโ€ฆ Hereโ€™s exactly what weโ€™d tell them to help them decide๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿปโœจ

Heat & Scratch Resistance ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ช

Quartzite: ~7 on the Mohs scale, nearly as hard as diamond. Handles hot pans and knives like a champ.
Quartz: Durable and non-porous, but resin content means it can scorch over ~300ยฐF โ€” trivets recommended.
Granite: Heat-resistant, but edges can chip from heavy impact.
Marble: Softest option (~3-4 Mohs). Etches from acidic foods even when sealed โ€” itโ€™s a โ€œlearn to love the patinaโ€ stone.

Maintenance Math ๐Ÿงฎ

Granite: Reseal every 12-18 months. Skipping this โ€” not the stone itself โ€” is what leads to staining.
Marble: Reseal every 6-12 months for the same reason.
Quartz: Zero sealing, ever. This is the real reason it dominates the market, not just trend.
Butcher block: Oil every 1-3 months, and needs extra care for raw meat prep.

Cost Per Sq Ft + Lifetime ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿค‘

Laminate: ~$20-50/sq ft installed, usually replaced in 10-15 years
Granite/Quartz: ~$50-100/sq ft, lasts 20-30+ years
Quartzite/premium marble: $100-200+/sq ft

The math: a $40/sq ft laminate replaced twice in 30 years often costs more than a $70/sq ft quartz installed once.

Not sure which material fits your kitchen? Stop by the showroom and weโ€™ll help you find the right one.๐Ÿค“
