This is why “rendered” and “purified” aren’t always the same thing.
That first render gets the fat melted down—but look at the difference after multiple rounds of purification.
Each round helps remove more of what we don’t want left behind: water, blood, proteins, connective-tissue residue, and other impurities.
The result is that beautiful, clean tallow on the right. 🤍🐮
For our tallow, I don’t stop after one pass. I wet-render with water and salt, filter, cool, scrape, and repeat—typically 3–5 purification cycles, depending on the batch. At the end, I carefully remove the remaining moisture before it ever becomes a finished product.
It takes DAYS. It’s messy. It’s definitely not glamorous. 😂 But this right here is why I do it.
The quality of your finished tallow starts long before it goes into the jar.
And if you're a rancher sitting on bags of beef fat thinking, “There has to be something better I can do with this…” — there absolutely is. 😉 I offer rendering and purification services, including turning your own fat into finished products for your brand.
