I've been thinking a lot lately about the concept of action over perfection, and decided to try something different - and I love it! Isn't it incredible what we can do when we're not afraid of failing?

I've always thrown my plates on the wheel, because I thought they'd be rounder and more consistent. I recently bought some slump molds to make dinner plates, and decided to give them a try this weekend. I also decided to take a risk and stamp the rim, and was blown away by how cute the result ended up being! This will probably end up being part of a dishware set for our home, but I can see charcuterie or other party dishes being served on these cuties too!

Stay tuned for the final result....in like 2 months 😅

Now that Christmas has passed, I get to post my favorite project of 2024: Chicken Mugs! A good friend asked me to make a pair of chicken mugs as a gift, and she otherwise gave me creative freedom. I decided to hand paint each chicken, using wax resist and sgraffito techniques to create layers and fine details. The fall leaves in the pics are because I finished the mugs back in Oct, but I'm imagining a clucking surprise on Christmas morning! ❤️ Painting was such a fun challenge, and I expect to try it more in 2025!
