Day 1 at the machines: My first 3 cabs (cabochons).
1. Rhodochrosite
2. Unakite
3. Agate

I still have to polish #2. It had a crack, so we had a lesson, at the end of class, on how to fix it. So today I'll polish it.
I'll also get better pics of all my stones at the end...the lighting wasn't the greatest!

Agh, I forgot to post my first day of school picture yesterday. Sorry guys.
It was a great first day and I can't wait to share what I create and my experiences.
Thanks for following along.

*lapidary arts: cutting, shaping, polishing rough stones. For me: for use in my jewelery!!

I joined in on a maker's challenge within my metalsmiths group. We were sent a random numbered bag of random costume jewelry. We can make at least one, but as many as we want, new pieces of jewelry. I have already created my pieces (I made them within 4 days day! Lol). But here's the kicker, the next meeting isn't until July 19th. 😬
So now, since I have my own anticipation I'm giving you all the anticipation as well. 🀣

Here is that stained glass panel (1 panel) the two girls from GaitWay did!! 🐴

GaitWay is a non-profit in Hillsboro, MO that helps "empower girls and young women to a successful adulthood and confidence through mentorship and working with horses".

This year for their annual fundraising gala "Boots and Ballgowns", the girls in the program got to work with different artists to create different artwork in different mediums to be auctioned off at the gala dinner event.

This stained glass panel will be part of that auction. I've got my ticket 🎟 secured for the event and I can't wait to see all of the other artworks.

The theme of this year's gala is 🌼 Wildflowers Wild Horses 🐎. So of course we did a beautiful horse with a blue background. πŸ’™

The two girls that I worked with were amazing. They listened and watched intently and caught on so quick. They did this panel from start to finish by themselves; I would explain and show the steps and they did all the work. They worked together, divided tasks, and were supportive to each other the whole time. You can really tell how amazing the GaitWay program is, especially when the girls talk about it and share their experiences. It was an honor working with them! πŸ’ž

Great job ladies!! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

I had the absolute honor of crash course teaching a friend how to silversmith and make this pendant.

Heather did so well. Took in each instruction and nailed it!! I am so proud of her!! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ And she made her own signature stamp. 🌼h

Heather helps run a non-profit in Hillsboro, MO that helps "empower girls and young women to a successful adulthood and confidence through mentorship and working with horses".

This year for their annual fundraising gala "Boots and Ballgowns", the girls in the program got to work with different artists to create different artwork in different mediums to be auctioned off at the gala dinner event.

(I also had the pleasure of working with two of the girls on a stained glass project - I will show that a bit later.)

Both this necklace and the stained glass panel will be part of that auction. I've got my ticket 🎟 secured for the event and I can't wait to see all of the other artworks.

The theme of this year's gala is 🌼 Wildflowers Wild Horses 🐎. So this necklace was designed with a stone called "Wild Horse Jasper" and of course we added flowers!!

Great job Heather!!

Sometimes I create, just for me, because it's cathartic.
I create a lot of things to sell or give away. Sometimes to just try something new. Other times I create with the sole [soul] purpose to give it to myself. Thank you me! πŸ₯°

Deer skull found by my son on my FIL property on Easter Sunday. My kids sure know how to make me feel special - give me dead things! 🀭 I wouldn't ask for anything different! πŸ’ž

The second piece was a brass leaf from something, πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ (because I'm a hoarder of interesting and weird s**t), then added some other fun stuff to it and a loop to hang it. Now it hangs in my kitchen at my store.

My butterfly suncatcher I made during class today.
I truly enjoy teaching this class. I love the conversations, and watching everyone's artistic color choices come together. And everyone learns so much and goes home with a finished product.

Another "Mother Nature's Treasures".
This one in a vintage Victorian feel cloche.
Everything is found objects; nothing once living I use ever is taken from Mother Nature, I wait until she's done with it.
Sometimes the flowers are from bouquets I've been given.
I save a lot of trinkets. πŸ€—

It is for sale and will be available for pick up only at my store - , Festus MO.
