Andi found this gorgeous mid 60s bedroom set off marketplace and waited so patiently all summer for me to start back to work to get this done. She chose a classic ultra white with a high gloss finish. A timeless look for her daughters room that can grow with her into adulthood.

It turned out beautifully but I would say the process of the transformation had me acting like Billy Walsh from Entourage. 😜 IYKYK right? All white gloss can be tricky. It’s a magnet for dust like you’ve never seen. It takes a lot of patience but in the end it is totally worth it.

Andi and her husband Cullen commissioned me before to complete the raw wood hutch for them back in May. It’s always great to have repeat clients and they are the sweetest couple to work for. Thank you for the opportunity to create other pieces for your home!

Whew! I now have a new respect for refinishers that do natural pieces. This one was definitely a challenge but in the end it all came together and it looks better than I had imagined!

The original stain on this was a red cherry color (swipe to see the pic). The pine on the bottom was different from the pine boards on top. I ended up just sanding off the original finish and bleaching both pieces until they were close in color. Next I used very thin applications of Driftwood and Weathered Oak stain to try and match both pieces, which was close but still not exact. So lastly, I grabbed a white and dark wax, mixed them together to make a light brown and used that to even them out.

My client chose the hardware from and it works so perfectly with the natural wood color. I was able to just use a little antique gold rub n buff to make the original hinges coordinate.

This one was is the last furniture commission I had scheduled. Now to finish an art commission then I’m all caught up! I have been planning some really bold and fun designs so I am excited to finally get to be able to make those come to life!

THESE ARE NOT TRANSFERS. Ok, I got that out there. If you don’t read any further, at least you know these are not transfers. This is 100% hand painted.

Guys! This one was a labor of love. This is 2 months worth of work and honestly I didn’t think I was ever going to finish, but when your shipper tells you he’s coming you gotta get it done!

Jessica messaged me here on ig with a vision of a floral antique buffet. I was able to source the buffet locally and we went back and forth probably 30 times about the design before we finally got it nailed down. Inspired by the color of her sons eyes and her beloved dog, she chose this deep viridian as the base color. She sent me a few source images ranging from flowers she liked, her grandfathers favorite flowers, and her tattoos as inspiration. I didn’t think we were originally gonna go in such a detailed direction, but we both agreed this was the best decision, and I’m so glad. It turned out better than I had originally imagined.

Now this beauty is off to her forever home in Houston!

Paint: , my favorite, and topcoat poly in satin.

This ones titled, ā€œThe first and last time I use Ben Moore Advanced.ā€

Not really, but for real, can we talk about this paint? I don’t know if it’s the climate I’m in, user error, a bad batch or what. But this paint was almost the death of me. It didn’t self level, it dried too fast and too slow, and this high gloss finish looks almost satin to me. I figured I’d try it out to see if it’s better than having to poly, but Id rather apply 20 coats of poly than use this paint again.

Ok, rant done. At the end this Dixie Campaigner got a facelift and looks great. The client picked a really pretty color and chose to keep the hardware original. I sprayed them with a matte clear coat to add a little contrast in sheen.

Paint: Ben Moore Advanced in Coventry Gray

*Not for sale // Commission for Laura based off my latest design*

Last year I made the decision to quit selling on marketplace. Every time I posted one of my pieces for sale someone had to leave a nasty comment and I don’t have time for that negativity. Well, a few weeks ago I decided I would try listing on fb again because I really needed to make room for some large projects coming up. My listing hadn’t been up a whole day before a woman left a comment on the post that I had ruined a vintage dresser by painting ugly flowers on it. I immediately deleted the listing. A couple of days later I sat back and thought, why am I letting this nobody old lady run me off from selling my pieces locally? She obviously has no taste or sense of style so why let her dumb remarks ruin me? I decided to post my dresser for sale again and while I was chatting with a woman about purchasing the dresser someone bought it on Etsy. She decided she still had to have it for her daughters room and just so happened to have a dresser that resembled the original. It needed a lot of work and I essentially had to rebuild the whole thing, but I was able to recreate the dresser for her and I was able to practice my repair skills. Win/win.

Anyway, moral of the story is not to let rude nasty people stop you from taking chances and living your life. Not only was I able to sell the first dresser I sold a second one as well! So take that old lady. I’ve now ruined two vintage dressers with my ugly flower design. 😘

Cynthiane’s Son, 16ā€x20ā€

I met Cynthiane through Etsy back in November. She originally bought the snake dresser as a gift but it didn’t end up working for the space. We decided that instead of keeping the dresser, I would give her a credit toward another item. She choose to have a portrait done and I’m so glad she did!

I’ve been really enjoying getting back into portraits and I feel even more excited to paint them now than I did in art school! After an 11 year hiatus, this is now the 3rd one I’ve completed in less than 6 months! Who’s ready to be number 4?!

If you purchase a portrait from me I custom make everything from start to finish. That means I build the canvas, paint the work, and build the accompanying frame (which is included in the purchase price).

Can I be honest? I didn’t know if I really liked this until yesterday. I assumed this one was going to be a quick one, but the more I got into it the more problems I had. The top had to be stripped of the veneer (thanks for the tips), the drawers all had to be taken apart and repaired, and I used triple thick poly for the first time and it was way harder to apply than regular poly. But yesterday I stepped back once it was staged, and I fell in love.

This 5 drawer antique dresser is truly one of a kind. All of the drawers have been rebuilt, so they slide in and out perfectly. They are dovetailed and lined in an off white velvet. The casters are original to the piece, just gave them a good cleaning but left the character intact.

I used my all time favorite paint, in Smoke Rose Blush, Maple Glaze, and Saffron Strings. Its sealed with triple thick polyurethane in satin.
