It’s been an amazing journey learning to dive. I got my open water cert about two years ago before taking the scientific diving course at FGCU, which I now help out in as a lead diver working on my divemaster cert. I’ve been so incredibly privileged to witness a whole other side of this world not many people do and if you ever see my mask filling up with water it’s not because the seal isn’t tight enough, it’s because I’m crying tears of joy 🥹 or laughing at the sheer beauty of it all! Even if I never saw a living creature down there, all the things people typically dive for- the coral reefs, the wrecks, the sharks- just the way the light streams down through the waves could keep me captivated forever. All the best cathedrals are underwater. The ocean has so much to say about God’s vastness, His depth, His creativity, His beauty, even His silence. And I love to listen. (I’ve even started dreaming about diving 😆)
All of these experiences are giving me endless inspiration as an artist. Art is the interpretation of life, and you’ve got to go live it before you can interpret. So blessed that I get to.
So expect to see a lot more inspired by the underwater world! And if you’ve ever thought about diving, do it! It’s worth it.
