🍔🧱 THIS ALABAMA RESTAURANT SERVES BURGERS, SANDWICHES & SOUTHERN FAVORITES INSIDE A HISTORIC 1889 MILL WITH AN ANTIQUE MALL NEXT DOOR!
Hidden inside one of Fort Payne’s historic buildings, Vintage 1889 is the kind of restaurant where the setting is almost as interesting as the food.
The restaurant occupies part of the Big Mill, a building constructed in 1889 that later became the W.B. Davis Hosiery Mill. Today, its exposed brick, industrial character and vintage décor give diners a glimpse into Fort Payne’s manufacturing past.
🍔 The menu features burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads and other comfort-food favorites. Past and current favorites include the Vintage Cuban, burgers, shrimp and grits, and a grown-up grilled cheese paired with roasted red pepper Gouda soup.
But here’s what makes the stop especially fun for travelers: you can eat and go antique hunting under the same roof.
The adjoining Big Mill shopping space features thousands of square feet of antiques, collectibles and artisan finds, so it’s easy to turn lunch into a longer stop while exploring Fort Payne. There’s also courtyard seating, and the restaurant hosts live entertainment at various times.
