Things have been quacking crazy at C-Ewe Farmstead this past week!

Polly became a mama for the first time and gave us a bouncing baby buck—he’s already acting like he owns the place. We also added FOUR more Ancona ducks! We sadly lost our Ancona drake recently, so fingers crossed one of these four waddly wonders is a boy! Because we apparently thrive on chaos, we also brought home 29 new chicks AND our new goat buck for next year’s breeding plans. He’s cute, he’s confident, and he has no idea what he just signed up for.

I’ve spent what feels like 40 hours weeding the garden. I left for a few days and the weeds said, “She’s gone! LET’S GROW!” With rain in the forecast for the next four days, I’m racing the clouds to finish up around the onions and green beans before everything turns into a jungle again.

Just came in from the garden—trying to squeeze in as much planting as I can before I hit the road tomorrow morning! Today’s additions: more Brussels sprouts, watermelon, cucumbers, and beans, plus loads of marigolds and calendula to keep the pollinators happy.

And big news at C-Ewe Farmstead—I finally started a garden just for the chickens! It’s planted along the outside of their run so they can snack whenever they want without tearing up the plants (because they will do it in about 3 minutes!). So far, their herb buffet includes basil, sage, rosemary, parsley, thyme, chives, and, of course, plenty of marigolds and calendula for my lovely little ladies and their handsome roo. Just another day in paradise here at C-Ewe!

Got home last night and made a beeline for the garden—because, of course, I missed it more than my own bed! The green beans and peas are thriving, the ducks kept their destruction to a minimum (thank you, feathered friends), and the weeds? Well… they clearly took my absence personally.

I’ve only got 4 days at home, but I’m hoping to get the pepper beds prepped and the sweet potato slips in the ground before we head out again. And despite having plenty to do, I’m feeling a strong pull toward a quick trip to Strawberry Hill Farms—because what’s one more tray of plants, right?

Rain. Mud. Cows. Confidence.
Just wrapped up the most unforgettable week at Cowgirl Confident—and y’all, I came home with muddy boots, golden cowgirl hats (yes, really), new skills, and even more love for this crazy farm life.

From meeting Dr. Temple Grandin, winning the chore challenge, backing up a trailer like a boss, learning how to preg-check a cow, reconnecting with an old friend, and bringing the best cow cookies to the farm shirt swap—it was a whirlwind of learning, laughter, and late-night hot tub therapy.

Head over to the blog to read the full recap. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this one!

We may be out of the barn for a few days, but that doesn’t mean the stories stop! I just posted a brand new blog all about our upcoming Oklahoma adventure—Cowgirl Confident, Fe’s hands-on vet experiences, and the chaos we’re bound to come home to.

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to pull a simulation calf, pregnancy check a cow, or attempt to back up a trailer (with varying degrees of success), this one’s for you.

Grab a coffee, kick off your boots, and head over to the blog to read all about it!

If you’ve got any trailer-backing tips, I’m all ears.

The car is loaded and we’re hitting the road—muck boots and all! Fe and I are off to Oklahoma for Cowgirl Confident, where we’ll be meeting up with one of my high school friends for a weekend full of inspiration, learning, and probably a few laughs we’ll never live down. This isn’t just a ...

The Great Garden Games have begun!

Today we planted 40 green bean plants and 75 pea plants! Robyn was busy prepping another garden bed for tomorrow’s planting marathon.

Tomorrow’s forecast: 24 strawberry transplants, 150 onions, more beans (because clearly we’re bean-hoarders now), Brussels sprouts, potatoes, and maybe a few herbs if we don’t pass out first.

Farming: it’s dirtier than it looks, but way more fun than spreadsheets. IYKYK!
