Here's another sneak peek at my holiday rom-com that will be available November 9:
🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
When I Facetimed with my parents the weekend before the holiday to finalize our plans, I asked Mom to save us a batch of her shortbread cookies and suggested to Dad that Todd loved wh***ey almost as much as him. They could taste-test some new bottles while we were visiting.

Alcohol and sugar sounded like a sure-fire way to win him over.

Right?

To Todd, I explained my mother's obsession with the holiday – how even her homemade bread would be dyed red or green depending on the week. Green was the color for the first and third weeks of December and red for the even weeks. Every recipe included a touch of cinnamon, from her egg bake to her coffee, and every inch of her home would be covered with a holiday-themed fabric, from the rugs to the curtains. Nothing was left untouched by the holiday spirit. Nothing.

When I explained her tradition of giving three gifts – one we needed, one we wanted, and one to make us laugh – Todd's eyes lit up. He insisted that he'd do his own shopping for my parents.

"I'm great at reading people. I can always tell what a person likes."

I raised my eyebrows. I faked my last four or***ms, and he had no idea. I doubted his skills were as excellent as he thought they were.

Been taking a short break….it’s amazing to be away but still painting in my head. Ideas still swirl. Nothing like sunshine and water to recharge.
