Hi, I’m Chad, a second-generation flooring installer and certified flooring inspector, married and based in Hudsonville.

The end user had a bathroom remodel recently completed. The dark staining on the carpet, as seen in the photo, didn’t show up until a few months after completion.
Magnification of the fibers showed a residue attached to the stained side of the carpet. The remaining sticky residue, likely from a plastic floor protector used during the remodel, transferred adhesive to the fibers.
This sticky residue accelerated soiling by trapping oils and dirt from continual foot traffic.
