Today is my birthday so I thought I would re-share 10 (non-furniture) facts about myself:
1. It has always been a dream of mine to travel to all 50 states before I turn 50. Passing through doesn’t count. I’m more than halfway through (29 so far) and that includes checking off Alaska and Hawaii.
2. I have traveled to 11 countries outside the US in my adult life, including studying abroad in England and Ireland during college.
3. Fourteen years ago I filled out a customer survey on the bottom of my Qdoba receipt. I ended up being the nation’s grand prize winner, receiving a check for $10,000.
4. I graduated with an MBA in 2010. Who would have thought that receiving a master’s degree would lead me to a full time career refinishing furniture and cabinets?
5. In my 20’s, I spent 6 years working for Jagermeister promoting the brand in local bars and at large events. It once led me onstage during an Eric Church concert.
6. I have known my husband since we were in grade school. We were in the same graduating class but rarely talked to each other in high school but now married almost 14 years.
7. After graduating college, I decided to play volleyball for the summer (after never playing volleyball before). I loved it so much, 22 years later I’m still playing on the same team! There are only two of us that are original members but our current team has played together for over 6 years.
8 i have two children, twins, born in June. I am a Gemini (the twin sign) and my twins are Gemini’s as well. They were born at 37.5 weeks, full term for twin babies and born almost exactly two hours apart!
9. Thirteen years ago I ran my first marathon, and my last. I finished in 4 hours and 45 minutes, not any sort of record breaking time but happy to have accomplished my goal.
10. I am a Green Bay Packers fan. I enjoy traveling for away games and have been to ten different NFL stadiums to cheer on the Packers.

“Make my table look new again” is a top request that I get from clients. Not a drastic makeover, just…better. And that’s what I did with this table. I completely stripped it down to bare wood, and then stained it using a custom color. The General Finishes topcoat was sprayed for a durable finish.

I had the pleasure of meeting the owners of the Fancy B (through a marketplace listing of all places) and they are the nicest couple with great vision creating a new look for this place. It’s a historic building that is a bed and breakfast and I have been watching the remodel progress and have the honor of one of my pieces being showcased in the entrance!

We just love how this piece looks in the entrance. Thank you to Jessica Flipping Unbelievable for the amazing work you did here!

Are you considering a cabinet makeover and wish you could tackle it yourself but unsure of how? I offer a service refinishing cabinets where the client paints the frames (with my guidance) and I refinish the doors and drawers. Message me to find out more if interested! This kitchen is one example of the client painting the cabinet frames herself and I painted the doors and drawer faces.

The only regret? - she wishes she did it sooner!

Black is a popular color, and for good reason. It’s classic and timeless and a true black color is easy to match with other black furniture. This piece belongs to my client and she wanted it updated. She wasn’t sure about the hardware, but I asked to give it a chance once the piece was painted and I cleaned up the hardware. I love how it all turned out!

My client bought a new table and wanted to refinish her existing chairs to match. So I did my best and prepped, painted and glazed to make it match. Now she has a new table and nearly new chairs but with the history that she cherishes.

This piece is sold, but you might get the chance to see it if you ever visit The Fancy B in Door County! The Fancy B is a bed and breakfast in Egg Harbor and this piece will live in the foyer. I met the owners when they came to pick up this piece and they mentioned a planned opening in June. They promised a picture when it’s all set up, and I can’t wait to share!

Another weekend of exploring the Showcase of Homes in Brown County. I look forward to this event every year. I love seeing new trends emerge and feel inspired by all the gorgeous designs.

This year I was surprised to find 3 houses with secret doors! It’s such a fun and unique design aspect. I’m still seeing lots of outdoor living spaces, two tone kitchens, textured walls (wallpaper or fluted) and so much more! Did you tour the showcase of homes? If so what was your favorite feature?
