Glazing and spot Bondo are important steps before painting furniture because they help remove dents, dings, scratches, holes, and other surface imperfections that can show through the paint. Paint does not hide imperfections—it can actually make them more noticeable, especially with smooth or satin finishes.
By filling and repairing these areas before painting, then sanding them smooth, you create a more uniform surface that allows the primer and paint to lay evenly. Taking the time to properly glaze and spot Bondo the furniture before painting results in a smoother, cleaner, and more professional-looking finish.
