Some recipes don’t just feed you… they find you again, like an old friend you didn’t realize you missed 🤍 I pulled this up for a recent demo.

This vegan tofu tikka masala is one of those recipes for me. It’s comforting, familiar, and quietly dependable — the kind of dish that shows up when you need something grounding, something that reminds you of who you are in the kitchen.

Over time, I’ve realized that it’s not always about complex ingredients or elaborate techniques. Sometimes, it’s the simplest steps that make all the difference. Pressing the tofu, for example — such a small act, but it transforms everything. It allows the tofu to absorb the spices, the warmth of the masala, the depth of the sauce… turning it into something truly satisfying rather than just an afterthought.

This recipe has evolved in my kitchen, adapting to busy days and changing rhythms. These days, I often make it in the Instant Pot — letting it do the work while the flavors deepen and come together effortlessly. It’s the same trusted dish, just meeting me where I am.

That’s the beauty of recipes like this — they grow with you. They don’t demand perfection. They simply ask that you return.

Some meals are elaborate  productions. Others are simply about good bites, good company, and a place that feels like it belongs to the neighborhood.

This quick little sampler at Kenny’s on the Water was exactly that kind of meal — an easy spread of plates meant for sharing and nibbling your way through. The recent makeover has given the space a fresh, bright lift, but it still holds on to that cozy, local charm that makes it such a comfortable spot to settle into for a casual meal by the water.

Sometimes the best dining moments aren’t about a single standout dish, but about the simple pleasure of a relaxed table, a few different flavors to explore, and the easy rhythm of a place that feels warmly familiar.
Another cozy and comforting Westchester location all pegged up!

There is something deeply human about gathering around food. Yesterday’s cooking class reminded me that cooking is never just about recipes—it’s about connection. It’s about breaking bread together, sharing stories, laughing over small kitchen mishaps, and discovering something new about the world and each other. It was a cozy comforting class after a long time. Gorgeous kitchen, yes, I will travel if so persuaded but not my preference.

Food has always been my language for building community. When we cook side by side, barriers fall away and curiosity takes over. We taste, we learn, we share.

If you’re interested in hosting or collaborating on cooking classes—whether for a group, community space, or just a table of curious people—I’d love to connect. Let’s keep creating spaces where food brings us together. 🍲 In good times and bad few things seem more comforting than breaking bread together.

Seafood is one thing I’m extremely picky about — being Bengali means the bar is very high. 🐟🌊

So when a place impresses me, it really impresses me.

Dinner at Oystercatchers in Tampa absolutely delivered. Think drop-dead dishes like a perfectly cooked whole flounder, a wildly creative calamari schnitzel that somehow works brilliantly, and the kind of pillowy milk bread that is pure comfort.

And of course… oysters. Fresh, briny, and exactly what you want when you’re sitting by the water. Perfectly finished with a rich and sticky date cake topped with ice cream.

When seafood meets creativity and serious technique, I’m happy. This was one of those meals.

Guilty cheater pleasure tonight 🍜🥡

Long day, zero motivation to cook, and the only answer was weeknight Chinese takeout + an ice-cold Diet Coke. One on my favorite dishes -chicken with broccoli.

Is it fancy? No.
Is it exactly what the soul needed? Absolutely.

Sometimes the best dinners come in those little white boxes. 🥢🥠 so what about you? Do you have a guilty cheater pleasure?

Sampling the flavors of Albuquerque between conference sessions 🌶️

Southwestern food really is its own thing — roasted Hatch green chiles, smoky red chile sauces, warm tortillas, and dishes that balance heat with deep earthy flavor. Think chile-smothered enchiladas, fresh salsas, slow-cooked meats, and that classic New Mexico question: red or green? (The right answer is usually both.)
By the way highly recommended is Church Street Cafe in Old Town.
Comforting, bold, and completely different from Tex-Mex — a delicious reminder that New Mexico cuisine stands in a category of its own.

The scent of curry leaves lingering in the air, the crackle of dosas hitting a hot griddle, curry leaves snapping in coconut oil, and that unmistakable warmth of freshly ground spices 🌶️✨
Probably my biggest highlight was the magic of pure and simple fresh chutney, also enjoyed seeing the variety of grains being used for dosas.
Bengaluru stays with you long after you leave — in the whiff of street-side chaat, the comfort of a perfectly spiced sambar, the sweetness of ripe mangoes, and the gentle heat that builds, bite after bite. As I head back to a chilly, wind-swept New York day, I’m holding on to those flavors — sun-warmed, layered, alive — letting them thaw the cold just a little.

Food has a way of turning memories into comfort, no matter the distance.

A day lost (and found) in the heart of Bangalore 🌼
KR Market is pure sensory overload—in the best way. Endless garlands of marigolds and jasmine, the heady mix of fragrances hanging thick in the air, vendors calling out, colors stacked on colors. It’s chaotic, vibrant, alive… and utterly fascinating. A reminder of how deeply beautiful everyday life can be when you slow down and take it all in. My first time in South India, specifically in Bengaluru, no matter where I go, how much I travel India soothes, India dazzles, and India heals like nothing else.

Grateful for a peaceful, thoughtful Thanksgiving 🍁 A day filled with family favorites, too much pie, and a very competitive game of Monopoly (yes, I take Boardwalk seriously 😄). Family boundaries flex, thankfully blood boundaries never change. Friday felt a little empty, hated not being able to do my pancake breakfast thing.

When life handed me a few lemons this weekend, i made lemonade — literally and figuratively — celebrating a cozy Friendsgiving with a coconut turkey chowder so good it’s officially on repeat 🥥🦃✨

And the sweetest ending? Sunday smiles with my daughter home again — complete with a Trader Joe’s snack-filled picnic 🧺💛 Simple joys. Full hearts.

✨ A little Vermont escape ✨
Spent the weekend soaking up simple pleasures — crisp air, quiet roads, and all the cozy moments in between. Highlights? Tasting my way through the Cabot Creamery shop (cheese heaven!) and ending on the sweetest note with a Ben & Jerry’s visit. 🧀🍦💛
Grateful for slow days, good flavors, and a state that always feels like a breath of fresh air. Special bonus getting to hang out with my son,who loves his cheese.
