Tomorrow at the Dennis Center for Active Living, 12-2pm, Real Food Tales is demonstrating Ramen Vegetable Soup (and Almond Cookies!). Inexpensive, fast, easy to make, healthy, delicious, and definitely warming to the soul. Whole grain (gluten-free) ramen noodles with home-made chicken bone broth/stock, fresh vegetables, and an array of spices merged into a delightful bowl of soup. This is real food, not the instant packaged stuff.

Make breakfast colorful. Eggs over easy with scallions, tomato, mandarin orange, fennel, and sourdough toast. A variety of color offers multiple benefits to the metabolism.

Make food work for you. Protein plus an extra slice of carbs before a workout, fennel for more fiber to help with digestion, and fruit for vitamins and C.

Coffee no sugar with some evaporated milk. It's half the fat and just as creamy as half and half.

This dish also promotes "eating less junk." It will keep me full until lunch. No cravings, no snacks required.

No power for five hours, but I'm making baked apples stuffed with granola, a dab of butter, and a teaspoon of maple syrup. Baking wrapped in foil on top of the water to boil.
