When the paper house makes it out of the paper!

The colors popping in my flower beds have me reminiscing on this super fun and colorful bedroom.

When a friend told me she needed help making her camper feel more like home and less… camper-ish, I was all in. Then I saw the camper and immediately thought, “Yeah… this might be hopeless.” 😂

But after tossing around ideas with Haley, we knew everything had to be removable to help maintain trade-in value down the road.

So, even though I usually avoid it, peel-and-stick wallpaper and tile became the stars of the show—adding color, texture, and character to spaces that desperately needed a little life. We layered in artwork and photos using Command strips so everything can easily be swapped out or removed when the time comes. And finally, the master bed got a full-on “glamping” makeover.

This project was such a fun challenge. It pushed my creativity in new ways, and seeing it all come together made it even better.

It doesn’t take much to change the entire feel of a room. Yesterday we installed grass cloth wallpaper in a new guest space for a client and oh. my. word. It made an immediate difference. Setting the stage with the walls will make the rest of the changes happen so easily. I can’t wait to see this room come together-it will be nothing less than a full retreat.

Another paper room and this one has me swooning. 😍

I designed this for a client who wanted a dark bedroom with jewel tones. A place to retreat from the demands of life and the throws of motherhood. A place for herself to exhale and sit with Jesus. I think this hits the mark.

I can’t wait to bring this space to life!

Can we talk about how small changes can make a big impact — especially on a budget?

This kitchen is getting a moderate makeover, and one thing we considered was painting the cabinets. That quickly became a hard no once we realized the cabinets were full of the rustic divots and slashes that were popular 10 years ago… but not so much anymore. Replacing the cabinets wasn’t in the budget, so we focused on the one thing we could change: the hardware.

By choosing slightly longer pulls in the same footprint, we avoided drilling new holes and simply swapped them out for beautiful gold hardware. Such a small change, but it completely elevated the space without a major expense.

What’s a small change you’ve made in your home that had a big impact?

When I was a little girl, I’d sit at my desk and draw entire houses…
but not the outside. Never the architecture.

Just the inside.

Beds. Blankets. Dressers. Rugs.
I’d cut each piece out and layer them together into a fully designed room. Like my own little world on paper.

And when my teacher said it was time to actually work, I’d carefully pack it all up—every piece tucked into an envelope—saving it for later.

Turns out, not much has changed.

Because really… we’re all just big kids in adult bodies. And lately, I’ve had the itch to do it again. To get what’s in my head out onto paper.

And honestly? It still feels just as good.

What’s something you loved doing as a kid that you might still do today?

I love how much wallpaper can change a space. This room was all white, which can be great…unless two really awesome twin boys use it and they need some pop to match their super fun personalities! But not too much pop because it needed to tie together the rooms that this bathroom connects. I knew a plaid would match the vibe for the space and with the existing mirrors, this one was the perfect pattern. Add in a funky alligator rug and I think we accomplished the perfect boy bathroom with aesthetic that will grow with them.

Have you seen my color consult but wasn’t sure how that would work? Here is a great example! My sweet friend was buried in decision fatigue after an area of their home flooded, activating dominos of decisions and turned into a much bigger problem than just the floors.

New floors led to an accidental drop of their counter top forcing them to pick something new. That let to the color of their cabinets not matching. She called me in with full analysis paralysis.

So, I took some pictures, shopped for quartz that we loved then selected a cabinet color that would match her existing wall color and amazing aesthetic of her house already.

The client showed off her skills with painting the island and a portion of the hood. After sitting with that for a day or so, she decided it all needed to be green. That’s what I love about paint and even decorating-nothing has to be final. It’s just always a journey to get to the destination!

HUGE shout out to Lisa Pickens Weaks for her incredible talent painting these!

Are you in the same place as my friend and need some help deciding on a color or colors in your house so you can get your dream project going? Call me! Let’s talk!

I peek into my day. I love what wallpaper and a little “fluff” can do to a space.

Came to drop off some tile and saw some fun happening that I wanted to get my hands on. I swear these guys have to roll their eyes when I come around. 😂🤪
