NIBA Designs

NIBA Designs The utmost quality & flexibility in custom rug design. By founder and creative director Beth Arrowood I am proud to introduce to you NIBA Designs!

When I founded the company back in 2005, my intention was to cater solely to the interior design market. After working as an interior designer and through my own research, I found that most rug companies carried large inventories of dated-looking designs, and worse, offered minimal customer service. Our goal at NIBA Designs is to offer an array of beautiful designs, with new designs being introduc

ed every few months. We also provide unparalleled personal service. NIBA rugs salespeople are all trained in interior design, and understand first-hand the pressure and time constraints designers face. Our job is to make your lives easier- from same-day service for quotations and renderings, to free catalogues and samples for your libraries, to creating custom rug designs for your projects. We pride ourselves on our flexibility in composition, design and price points. We offer thousands of color choices, in materials such as wool, silk, hemp, linen, bamboo, allo, tencel, nylon, cotton, sunpat and more. Continual development of new fibers and techniques is very important to us. And so are the relationships with our factories. We visit each factory once a year, and work very closely with the owners and their staff. Each factory must not only meet acceptable standards for every aspect of its working conditions, but it must also be in alliance with GoodWeave (formerly known as RugMark) to ensure that there is no child labor used in the manufacturing of our rugs. By developing strong personal relationships with our factories, we are able to deliver superior service and excellent lead times. In return, we keep the ancient traditions of rug-making alive while keeping people employed and offering help in countries of great need. I invite you to visit our showroom in Hollywood Florida or on our website at www.NIBADesigns.com. If you prefer one of our regional sales managers can schedule a personal appointment in your office. Thank you for your interest in NIBADesigns. We look forward to working with you! Beth Arrowood

Got a sample you’re obsessed with? We can work from that!

If you already have a sample you love — a color, a texture, a pattern that’s been living on your mood board — we can send it directly to the factory. They’ll repull the artwork and recreate it or turn it into a fully custom rug built around that exact reference.

We always recommend a strike off first. It’s worth it. But we also get it — lead times have a way of sneaking up on you, and sometimes you need to move.

If you’re working against a deadline, talk to us. We’ll figure out the best path forward together.

Sample matching is just one of the ways the NIBA process is built around how designers actually work.

When the interior designer commits to a client’s vision 💭 this is what’s possible!

Each design in the Celestial Collection is inspired by the cosmos — glorious sunsets in shades of orange, pink, and peach; the soft texture of cumulus clouds; and the quiet mystery of moon dust.

What makes the Celestial Collection stand out for custom interior design projects:

• Ethereal, sky-inspired patterns that work for full project designing
• Up to 30 colors per design, creating subtle gradation that reads as effortless luxury
• Bespoke scale and colorway options to anchor any custom design
• A sophisticated alternative to traditional abstract rugs for luxury living rooms, primary suites, and statement spaces

If you’re specifying a custom area rug for a client who wants something that feels fresh and textural — this is where to start.

📩 Reach out to discuss custom sizing, fiber options, and lead times for your next project.

Bold patterns rooted in a Central Asian weaving tradition, scaled for the rooms that can handle them.

The Uzbek Collection draws from the original nineteenth-century ikats of Uzbekistan, the bold, saturated, unapologetically graphic designs that sparked a global obsession.

Named after villages and weaving terms from the region, each design stays true to the originals in color and confidence, then gets scaled and custom-made for today’s interiors:

• Patterns range from strong architectural geometrics to intricate multi-color compositions with the characteristic effects of authentic ikat dyeing
• Available in Turkish, Persian, Tibetan, soumak, and dhurrie flat weave constructions
• Colorways may stay vibrant and intentional or customize them for a more neutral look
• Fully custom in scale, colorway, and construction to fit the specific needs of your project

For the maximalist rooms that need a rug capable of holding it all together, we invite you to start here!

For the first chapter of our new series exploring craftsmanship and culture, Beth Arrowood of NIBA Designs sits down with her son Connor of Lost in Space Media over a cup of tea to discuss one of the world’s oldest traditions: tea making in China and the generations of artisans who continue to preserve it today.

What started as a conversation about tea quickly became a conversation about something larger—the importance of keeping traditional skills alive in a rapidly changing world.

Through Lost in Space Media, Connor travels to experience culture through craft, documenting the makers, techniques, and traditions that continue to be passed down from one generation to the next. Tea was the first chapter of that journey. Stay tuned for what’s next!

At NIBA, that idea resonates deeply with us.

For more than twenty years, we’ve worked alongside artisans who practice the centuries-old craft of rug making. From hand-knotting and weaving to dyeing, washing, carving, and finishing, these techniques continue because people choose to preserve them.

This series is a celebration of those people—the makers, artists, and craftspeople who keep traditions alive not by looking backward, but by carrying them forward.

We hope you’ll join us as we explore their stories.

Welcome to Part One. 🫖

Calling all Junior Designers — you’re going to want to save this one. 📣

Every custom rug order at NIBA includes one complimentary strike-off: a sample made to your exact specs — your colors, your construction, your scale — before the full rug goes into production.

Swipe through to see the strike-off sitting right on top of the finished rug — color, line weight, pile and all.

Here’s what that moment gives you:

- True color confidence — see exactly how your palette reads in actual dye and pile
- A feel for scale — the pattern repeat at sample size is a completely different experience than at 11’6” x 15’
- Light and sheen — pile direction shifts the entire color story depending on how the light hits it
- A chance to refine — if anything needs adjusting, we’re here for it before production locks in

Short on lead time? We can match a sample and move straight into production. But when the timeline allows, this step is pure gold.

This beauty made for one of our favorite clients out of Boston is a perfect example. And your next project deserves this moment too.

A summer state of mind, circa 1967.

Where poolside glamour meets pattern and color, and everything feels just a little more effortless. Lemon yellows, playful prints, and that unmistakable Palm Springs ease—this is luxury at its most relaxed, most joyful, most alive. The golden hour of leisure.

At NIBA, we’re always inspired by moments like these—where design feels transportive. Where texture, color, and pattern don’t just decorate a space… they define the mood.

Now imagine that energy translated into custom rugs. Bold geometric patterns in sun-drenched terracotta and turquoise. Flatweaves with the graphic confidence of a 1960s scarf print. Natural fibers that feel as good as they look in the light.

Call it a summer crush. We’re leaning all the way in! 💋😎

Why should a custom rug be one of the very first selections in a room?

Because the best interiors are designed with intention — not assembled by finding pieces that simply “fit.”

The rug establishes the foundation for nearly everything else:
the furniture plan, the scale of the other pieces in the room, the palette, the fabrics, the movement, and ultimately the feeling the space carries when you walk into it.

And yes, custom rugs also happen to carry some of the longest lead times in the design process because true handmade craftsmanship takes time. But beyond timing, this is really about cohesion.

Imagine trying to source the “perfect” 12’6” x 13’9” rug off a rack somewhere after every other selection has already been finalized. Suddenly the proportions feel compromised, the palette becomes limiting, and the room starts revolving around what’s available instead of what was envisioned.

This is one of the clearest examples we see every day of why custom matters.

A thoughtfully designed rug makes a room feel layered and intentional — instead of a collection of beautiful pieces trying to work together after the fact.

At NIBA, we often say the rug is not the finishing touch.
It’s the starting point.

From strike-off to full scale — this Cluster design with its sandy ground and sea glass pattern really make a room sing.

What you’re seeing:

Color matching and strike-off review directly on the loom.

The full-scale rug taking shape, knot by knot.

The silk pattern adds that quiet luminosity — the way it catches light shifts the whole mood of the colorway. Paired with wool, you get the depth and durability to back it up.

Another NIBA rug ready for its forever home!
