The chest project is complete and I am thrilled with the results!

I decided to make the door pulls with a Redesign with Prima mould to further the geometric pattern of the stencil. The vibe of this chest looks great with the bedspread.

Products Used:
Wise Owl Chalk Synthesis Paint: weathervane
Fusion Mineral Paint: Prairie Sunset
Redesign with Prima: Stick & Style Stencil, Irregular Triangles; K**b Mould, Imperial Pearl

Cedar chest project update!

Today was all about sanding and cleaning. The veneer on top of the chest came off easily but I will need to fill in some areas to build up the plywood base before adding a sheet of new veneer. The base cabinet sanded well, but required more stripper and mineral spirits to clean the details better. The legs…that was a chore to strip and clean! Three out of the four legs need to be repaired by making a mould to replace the parts that are missing.

I had the pleasure of an unexpected visitor (see photos) having lunch while I worked in the garage!

Will have one more day of detail sanding of the grooves and legs before I decide on the finish…stay tuned!

Next restyle on the project table!! This is another family heirloom that has been waiting patiently to be made pretty again. This cedar chest was in very bad shape when I got it. At that time, I didn't know much about furniture refinishing, so I applied some chalk paint because it was advertised as a no-preparation process. Well, now that I know better, I have a lot of work to do to get it back to its original finish. The veneer on top of the chest needs to be removed and one of the legs is broken.

First step, remove all the paint. LET'S GO!!
