Our Story

Buffaloe Floors and Up. began in 1965 by Glenn and Irene Buffaloe, who worked primarily part time out of their home with Glenn doing carpet shampoo and Irene maintaining the accounting. Soon, Glenn began selling carpet as well as cleaning it. By 1976, Glenn retired from his full time job as a Counselor for the Houston Independent School District to concentrate solely on his flooring business. He leased space in a strip center on 34th Street in Northwest Houston, and later a warehouse on Shepherd Drive and soon hired his son-in-law, Larry Kristynik, to help in sales. Outgrowing the warehouse space, he decided it was time to purchase the company’s first warehouse on Pinemont. By then, Larry’s brother, Ronnie Kristynik, had also joined in the Sales Department and business was booming. In 1980, it was agreed that Buffaloe Floors and Up needed more space once again, and moved to one of the current locations at 3831 Pinemont, a 10,000 square foot warehouse with office space and a showroom. By 1983, more sales help was needed, and son-in-law, Ken Lunsmann was also hired. Glenn and Irene’s daughters, Renie and Denie, also became actively involved in the company through window coverings sales, bookkeeping, and office management. Although the business began primarily as a residential business, in the last 20 years Buffaloe Floors and Up has expanded more thoroughly into the commercial side of the flooring industry. We have also expanded to include window coverings, as well as countertops. Buffaloe also works exclusively with several home builders and contractors in the Greater Houston area. Many of the installation crews that work for Buffaloe have been working there for many years and high quality installation is always a guarantee. Buffaloe’s business motto has always been to give customers the best possible flooring for the best possible price. Buffaloe Floors and Up takes great pride in operating for over 50 years with the highest integrity when dealing with customers. We are a Better Business Bureau Winner of Distinction in 2009 and 2011-2014 and an accredited business with the BBB of Houston with an A+ rating since 1987. We have also maintained an “A” average rating with Angie’s List and have been awarded their prestigious “Super Service Award” every year since 2010. We are proud of our family-owned and operated business. And although Glenn & Irene are no longer with us, it is our pleasure to continue our company and dedicate our service to them, their vision, and their work ethic to return satisfied customers again and again to our showroom!
