Many things go wrong sometimes on a project. This one had a lot of surprises for me.

1.) Put the front speakers in the ceiling, it’ll make the movie sound like it’s coming from heaven. Quite literally out of this world.

2.) Push the seats all the way to the back wall, you won’t know what hit you.

3.) Keep the equipment in the room, the extra noise makes for a great ambience

4.) Paint it white. That way, you can watch the movie on any wall.

5.) Tell the architect to put the door in front. It creates an extra level of immersion when someone walks out of it.

If it wasn’t clear already. These are all things NOT to do. But they’re things I’ve had to repair and deal with on an actual project.

The mantlemount can be useful for more than just bringing a TV down to eye level on a fireplace.

In this install, we used it to leave the TV over an attic access door and bring it up whenever the TVs being watched.

This client wasn’t sure that it would work, so it was important we came to see if it’ll work. Sometimes the situation won’t let us do a straightforward install.

Space. But this change could have been avoided from the beginning.

The clients planned for a much bigger screen, but the equipment sitting behind the couch was taking up all the space they could have had the seating in.

So they flipped the room so they could have more space.

You can lower it when you wanna watch and raise it back when you’re done.
