Because I never seem to have enough on my plate lol With all the books I have started I have seemed to write myself into a corner. Hard to believe with so many in the works. So when I need to step back and ponder it usually brings something else to the forefront. Here is a little snippet of that something else.
Shattered Vows
Mary glanced at the clock, the ticking sound echoing in the room as she waited for her husband, James, to come home. Dinner had been long ago served to her boys. Baths had been had, roughhousing had commenced, and teeth brushing had become a riot for some reason unknown to Mary. Yet their laughter through the house always melted her heart. Now the quiet had set in as all three slept. It was close to ten o’clock. It seemed her husband worked later and later lately.
She was tired but knew they needed to have a conversation. Going on nearly twelve years of marriage something had changed. It had been months since they’d been intimate and they rarely saw each other due to his schedule. She thought of when they met and the roller coaster ride of a courtship and then marriage. Then her boys came. Ethan was the eldest, a thoughtful and reflective ten-year-old, followed by the mischievous and adventurous eight-year-old, Noah. Her youngest six-year-old Liam brought her boundless energy and joy.
As the door swung open, Mary looked up, expecting the scowl on his face but this time for those few seconds before he noticed she was there. A smile. Until his gaze met hers. There was a scowl. Unfamiliar tension and his eyes held a gravity that sent shivers down her spine.
