“Life imitates art.” I’m pretty sure you’ve heard of that (or not, no judgment here).

As an interior designer, mood boards were always a reliable way for us to translate our ideas into something tangible and visually helps in making our clients see how we perceive the design project.

Or sometimes, we use mood boards for something more personal. inspiring and just...creative.

Getting caught up in someone else’s design and following design trends is easy. I love getting inspiration from others’ work and generating new ideas by exploring my environment. I travel, go to museums, art galleries, and to small markets to support local artisans.

Together, all the images I take in help me create something unique with my own creative stamp.

We're TOO scared to make mistakes, to take risks, and maybe that's where the problem is.

I get that we need to make calculated choices to reduce mistakes and the possible risks on things that matter to us the most. But if we're too scared to get out of our comfort zone, we'll never know the peak of our potential.

I've always been actively planning, but planning is different from taking action. I want to plan my next steps and make them into reality, and no mistake nor risk should be big enough to stop me from the goals I want to achieve.

Something that I've learned when running an interior design business:

You can manage multiple design projects with system and process templates.

Even though every project is different, how I execute the project is the same. Repetition helps make sure nothing slips through the cracks.

You may not get everything right the first time, but taking action and jotting down notes is important to improve and develop a system that works for you and your business.

It's also tied to not being afraid to make mistakes and taking it as a learning opportunity.

As a creative, loving what you do is the secret to success, as cliche as it may sound.

It brings me joy to create and design timeless pieces and art. It's not just a profession to me.

I am proud to say that I live and breathe design.

Nothing beats the feeling of walking in a place you once envisioned; the best part is helping someone put all their thoughts to life—not just making beautiful spaces for them, but making them feel at ease and comfortable in their own home.

There's just something warm and fuzzy with the thought of helping my clients create their dream spaces that reflect their unique personalities and meet their lifestyles.

Being passionate about your work shows in every detail you put into it. And as an interior designer, I am blessed and thankful for the opportunity to do what I love and bring joy and beauty through my work.

We HAVE to streamline our design business.

And for good reasons.

Design projects can get a little hectic once your design plan is approved. Ordering, getting approvals, and organizing contractors and deliveries is a lot to think about, especially if you have more than one project going at once. Organizing and automating your processes keeps your head straight and helps deliver 5-star reviews.

For many reasons, most of us have been people pleasers, or maybe still are. I get that.

But being too flexible and available to everyone wears us out. And I've been on several occasions.

But I want to be firm on what I want, what I can and cannot tolerate.

I want to learn to say "no" to things that don't help me in any possible way.

I even learned to say no to myself.

I've been overworking myself too much, saying "no" to the wrong things, like making time for my family and loved ones.

But it's never too late for realizations and changes. It's not too late to learn to say "no."

Say "no" to a busy and tiring life; say "yes" to systems, changes, and support.

That's what we're aiming for right now. We hope you are, too 😉

Mine's: cozy.

Cozy = warm and clean to me. It doesn't have to mean worn, but when I think of cozy, I think of warm colors, clean surfaces, and fresh-smelling air.

As a soon-to-be mom, I'm excited to decorate a room for our new family member.

I'm sure mompreneurs like me who expect their little ball of sunshine soon would feel elated to look at cribs, cute clothes, and room accessories for the little bundle of joy. That's me right now.

I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH how important it is to take breaks. 😮‍💨

I spent years burning the midnight, daylight, and weekend oil 😂 and it didn't get me anywhere faster.

I take breaks now and work a reasonable amount of hours a day. I even took two vacations last year (which was a big deal for me).

Taking breaks helps me work smarter and access my peak creativity. ✨

Kitchens are a battleground or a creative zone for some.

Getting the right vibe requires a lot of care and the right mix of things.

It's where some couples dance without music at 2 in the morning, giggling with each other, ecstatic with the feeling of love, or when kids learn to help in the kitchen—either in pouring stuff or keeping you company with their curiosity.

It's where a lot of cooking, cleaning, a bit of taste testing, a few laughs and talks here and there happens, especially when preparing meals. Some of us get lost in the moment; you get to be in your element.

That's exactly how I felt when I took action as a business owner and interior designer:
