It had the right bones. It just needed the right fabric.

This toy chest earns its place — functional, beautiful, and exactly what this corner needed.

Welcome to Sourced & Styled, Vol. 2. This time, I reupholstered a vintage toy chest in a classic ticking stripe — a fabric with enough history to feel right alongside pieces that have their own. This is the kind of nursery that comes together slowly, intentionally, over time.

Every piece in this corner has a story. The botanical prints, pillow, and rocking horse are all vintage. The hand-knit stuffed animals are new, but were gifted to my daughter for special occasions over time. That’s how the best rooms happen. 🫶🏼

I know, I know — I’ve been quiet on the Lakeside Lodge. Taking time out to share progress can be a lot. But here’s where we are:

Framing is underway. Materials are being decided. And last week I committed to this stunning Emerald Green Quartzite for the kitchen counters. I am obsessed. It’s earthy and dramatic and it’s going to anchor this whole kitchen against the refinished hickory cabinets in a way I’ve been envisioning for months.

The new layout is locked. The island cabinets are going to be ivory to match the hood. The bones of this kitchen are going to be very, very good.

I’ll be sharing the full material breakdown later this week — including the two decisions I’m still searching for (lighting and hardware — send your recommendations!). This is just the beginning. ✨

Welcome to a new series where I share the vintage pieces I source and how I layer them into our home.

I’m drawn to older pieces not because they’re inexpensive, but because they’re made well. Solid wood. Brass with patina. Real materials. Pieces with history.

Designing this way feels slower. More personal. And far more sustainable than buying something new.

For this first piece, I found the lamp base and shade separately and combined them into something softer and more timeless — adding a children’s skirt for a little whimsy and using Rub ’n Buff to gently even out the brass.

Now it lives in my daughter’s reading nook, and she turns it on every night before her bedtime stories — which might be my favorite part 🤍

Do you mix vintage into kids’ rooms?

Golden hour at the lake always slows everything down.
This place is already doing what it’s meant to do.

Here. We. GO!

The lakeside lodge transformation has officially begun! Tearing it all down to build it back better.

Can’t wait to show you what’s coming 👀

Walking through the vision.
Before demo, before dust, before chaos —
this is where it all starts.

Big changes are coming- and I’ll be sharing every step of the way as we transform our Lakeside Lodge.

The guest room at the Lakeside Cabin has been evolving for a while now, and I’m loving where it’s landed.

The vintage oil painting of a deer in the woods felt meant for this space—we see deer outside these windows all the time. There’s something grounding about having art that reflects the place you’re actually in.

The bedside setup is all about natural materials: solid wood nightstand, woven wicker lamp shade that casts the softest light, white cotton linens. Nothing precious, everything purposeful.

I didn’t furnish this room in a weekend—it was curated over time as I found the perfect pieces slowly. Now it feels collected and calm, exactly what a lake cabin bedroom should be. 🤍

Honestly? I’m obsessed. Yes, it needs some updating, but look at those poplar hardwood floors and trim. Those huge windows with all the natural light. And that lake view! The bones are incredible.

Here’s the vision: Modern lakeside lodge with warm, organic materials. Open up the space a bit to improve flow and optimize the view. Honor what’s original and beautiful, but update what’s not working.

What would YOU do with this space? Drop your wildest ideas below - I can’t wait to hear them!

We bought a cabin on Lake Monroe! We’re calling it the Lakeside Lodge.

It has great bones, a beautiful view of the water, and a lot of potential. I am excited to transform it into our dream getaway - updated with modern comforts, lodge-style charm and outdoor spaces that invite you to slow down and stay awhile.

I’ve worked on projects of many sizes, from small redecorations to full remodels, but this will be my most ambitious to date. Fleck Home is becoming my living design journal—a place to document the evolution of this lodge, alongside client work and the ongoing changes we make to our own home.

If you like design that values beauty, function, and sustainability—and believe the details matter—welcome. 🤍
