Handwoven by Kathy Hi! My name is Kathy Schwietz
I am a weaver. Blankets are my favorite to weave. I think everyone deserves a personal, soft & cozy blanket to wrap up in. Wow!

They not just functional; they are soft, sensual works of art that wrap you in cozy warmth. My name is Kathy Schwietz. I am a weaver. I have been weaving for 48 year now. I started in college as a fine arts student. My main interest was in woodworking, but the 1st time I sat at a loom, I knew I was a weaver. I built my 1st floor loom at 19 and have never stopped weaving. I cherish the intricate process of threading my looms and weaving textiles. To me it is magical! To take one thread at a time, interweave it with hundreds or thousands of other threads, in any pattern, color or texture my mind can see. Once I have drafted my weaving, threaded my loom, wound my bobbins, put on some good ole rock n roll, I am ready to dance. This process is my favorite part. With each throw of the shuttle, my creation grows and comes to life. The rythmn of pushing the treadle, throwing the shuttle, beating the weft is a dance that I embrace and get lost in. I hope you enjoy my weavings as much as I love creating them! I weave in my home studio in Inlet Beach, Florida. I have 3 looms in production all the time.

Latest in the cotton plants. The bottom branches have been harvested. The mid branches produced stunted bolls, but some I can still use. I am thinking it's because if the heat. The top part of the branches are still blooming and producing new bolls and they look very healthy.

The green and brown cotton plants are not producing healthy bolls like the upland cotton. They sure are beautiful though.

I had just a small cotton harvest today. It’s been a month of 90 to near 100 degrees and the bolls have slowed down.
The good news is these plants are still flowering and producing new bolls at the top of the plants. These bolls are bigger and look healthy!
More to come 😊
