Hi!! New here and new to being a plant lover šŸ’•šŸ˜Š I just had this plant, I ordered online, delivered yesterday. This thing is MASSIVE! I tried to get a read on the soil moisture but it was SO dry, like dried solid, I couldnā€™t get through it with anything. The roots were starting to come back out the top, I made sure I wasnā€™t just looking at aerial roots šŸ˜³ It wasnā€™t in a growers pot and the pot it was in didnā€™t have any drainage holes. We eventually got it out of the pot ONLY to bottom water it because the whole thing was bone dry. I had my fiancĆ© drill, a bunch of holes through the bottom of the pot and we just use a drip tray underneath.

My question isā€¦..what are my next steps? Leave it as is together? Will separating it harm the entire thing? When should I repot itā€¦..soon?

You all seem so helpful, any help is appreciated!

Went to Loweā€™s to check the plant clearance rack; I had the fig leaf, elf lipstick plant, and fern picked out. I was getting ready to leave and an employee was bringing out a whole new cart of clearance, so I had to rescue two birds of paradise, a lime dracaena, and a cordyline. šŸ˜ It was a good plant haul day!

Iā€™ve had this snake plant for about 3 years. Got it when I first started my plant journey and somehow kept it alive for this long. Went to water it the other day and all of a sudden it started dropping leaves like crazy!!!! I pulled it up to find that thereā€™s sooooo much dirt in the bottom and the root system is sooo tiny. I swear I didnā€™t know any better at the time šŸ˜©šŸ˜© I pruned the yellowing leaves but now what do I do????

Someone around here like to switch tags so I try and be wary but I'm still new in the actual addiction šŸ˜…

One is supposed to be a Cebu blue and the other a Skeleton key. Google image search switches its answer if its a different angled picture. I'm fairly certain they're correct because of color but now i'm second guessing myself.

B***o / donkey tail cutting/propagation help please!

Hi everyone Iā€™m new to houseplants. I just got this gorgeous b***o tail (or donkey tail) two days ago and absolutely love it and then someone knocked into it :( Iā€™m really sad but I read online this specific plant propagates well?

Could one of you lovely experts please advise on how to take care of the parts that broke off? Should I put them back into the main plant or new pots, and if so how many per pot? I am a total newb so the more detail the better, really hoping there is a way to salvage this :((

Looking for advice

Looking for adviceā€¦ my mom passed away about 4 months ago and this was the only plant of hers that I took with me because it was one of her favorites. As you can see it has a lot of old ā€œstalksā€ and the ā€œpotatoesā€ as I call them are quite large and outside of the soil. I would love to help it be more full and encourage new growth but I feel like all of the old stalks are taking up too much room. Do I trim them all the way down? Plant the potatoes lower in the soil? I plan to repot this spring but I want a game plan beforehand. TIA!

I don't have a green thumb at all, but I somehow managed to keep this pothos alive for a year and a half šŸ™Œ
My dad is a big gardener (also loves hunting/ fishing/ foraging) but I didn't inherit any of that and suck at keeping any plant alive. My husband mentioned we should get a plant for this hook by our laundry corner and my dad had some extra Pothos plants so I snagged one and crocheted a holder for it. I'm surprised it's still going and there's another leaf/ vine starting to come out from the soil šŸŒ±

Also how bad are these plants for kitties? My cats will eat anything we bring into the house, so if this is something they shouldn't chew on I'll work on holding the vines up so they can't get at it. It's currently not to ground level, but getting there.
