Longarm Edge to Edge Quilting Services
My goal is to delight you when you open your finished quilt. You worked hard to make your quilt top perfect and each one has a part of your heart stitched into. You will be anxious about sending your work to a stranger after you’ve worked so hard on it. I hope you won’t feel like a stranger for long. My studio is smoke free studio. I would say pet free but my sweet Tiki visits occasionally just to make sure I’m still around. I clean my floors and tables after I finish each quilt to avoid dust and threads from being transferred to the next quilt.
Instructions: Here’s what you should do to get the best result.
Add inches. The backing and batting must be a minimum of 4 inches larger on each side (total of 8") than the quilt top. I'll return the leftovers for the binding. With machine quilting, it is not possible to “turn over” the left over material on the sides to make the binding because I have to quilt past the quilt edge.
Square It! Your quilt top should be squared and stray threads clipped. This is important to avoid stray threads showing through the light fabrics on the quilt.
Press It! I will press your quilt top right before it goes on the longarm to give it the very best look. I press from the top so I can check seams before it goes on the quilter. You should press the quilt top from the back to ensure your seams are laying properly and that the seams are pressed toward the dark fabrics to avoid colors from showing through on the front. The seams should be pressed before you mail it. If I see flaws fix it if possible. If I don’t see a flaw until it’s being quilted I will mark them with a pin for you.
Borders. To get the very best finish, piece your borders based on the center measurements of the quilt vertically and horizontally. Too big or sloppy borders makes it much more difficult to quilt and there will probably be tucks in the border areas.
Batting: To save you money on shipping I have batting available. Batting is based on quilt size and is listed on the price sheet. I use white batting so that your whites will stay as bright as possible. If you need to use black, please send it to me.
Backing: The backing should be cut straight along the edges. If you are sending a sheet for backing, cut off or undo the hems first.
Facebook. I have many design choices on my Southern Whimsy Quilting page but I also have designs that are not there yet so I can help you if you let me know what you need.
Payment: If you want to include a check in your package, refer to my price list or I will invoice you when I begin working on your quilt. This could possibly cause a delay in shipping if you don’t check your messages often.
Last minute checks: 1) The most common issue I see is with the backing. The seams can be too skimpy to hold, the selvedges are left on and not sewn far enough into the fabric which causes a white line down the center back. 2) Take a picture of your quilt and look closely at it. You’ll notice things in a picture that you won’t notice when you’re seeing it up close. 3) Do your borders have tucks or are they too large? This will cause tucks in your borders when it is quilted and it won’t look crisp.
Mail It! Send me a note with your return mailing address, email and phone, thread color choice and design choice. If you want me to contact you to talk about your quilt, please include a note. Many times I know as soon as I see your top which designs would work best and I don’t mind making suggestions.

Wait for Your Quilt. I will let you know when I’m working on it, when I’m finished and when I mail it. I will post each quilt on my FB page when I finish it. You’ll get a picture and copy of the mailing label right before I put it in the mail so you can track it.
Special notes: Tee shirt quilts must be pieced with interfacing. I will do my best with tee shirts quilts but they can be challenging, depending on how they are pieced. The fabric tends to pucker and stretch. You must use non-stretch fabric for the backing.
