Crafting To Cope by Lynn

Crafting To Cope by Lynn As someone who struggles with mental health, mental disorders, and chronic pain I CRAFT TO COPE. Those who need to find their own way Cope or craft with me.

This is not to show off and sell what I make but to meet like minded individuals. As someone who has mental health disorders, my coping mechanism is crafting. The is a large stigma on mental health and being an advocate for mental by selling the things I make provides me with an outlet to share my views and hopefully, my crafts will bring joy to others.

The Dream Behind Dream A Sweet Dream

One night I found myself in a deep depression and decided to do some arts & crafts to ease my mind. As I worked on my first dream-catcher I decided that I should create my own Etsy page and sell them. I wanted to more than just sell then though….I wanted the money to go to a good cause hoping that it would heal my depression in some way. I told my mom about the idea the next morning and she jumped on my arts & crafts train by creating paper flowers. A few months into this project I was diagnosed with Bipolar Depression and the re-diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. Things got bad for a while to the point where I was hospitalized for a while. During my time in the hospital they told me that there was nothing they could do to help me. This was a mental disorder I had to live with and the only remedy for it would be constant medication and therapy for the rest of my life. When I got out of the hospital, I jumped back into my crafts to cope with the news I had received.

My goal for this shop was to create items that were one of a kind that would block negative energy and bring positive energy to others in the world along with bringing awareness to the stigma attached to Mental Health. Since opening my shop in 2016 I have been aiming to expand my efforts and bring awareness to the challenges that come with mental illness. I have chosen more charities and will be donating 15 percent of the revenue to a different one every six months. These charities include Project Semicolon, To Write Love on Her Arms, and This Is My Brave.
