We have a big announcement to share.
This fall, we’re moving back to France.
After 17 years in the U.S. and Canada, our time here has shaped us as artists and as people. What began as an exploration in clay grew into a full-scale studio, a ceramics community, and eventually into projects like Mutual Core, our first loudspeaker bringing together our love of music and ceramics.
The journey has been incredible, but also intense. Running two studios while living far from family has stretched us thin, and now feels like the right moment to restructure, to bring life and work into better balance, and to refocus on the projects that matter most.
Relocating L’Impatience to France isn’t an ending — it’s a continuation. Our work will grow in new contexts, with new energy and inspiration, in Europe and beyond. Mutual Core will continue, alongside the sculptural and functional ceramics at the heart of our practice.
We’re so grateful for the friends, collaborators, and community who have supported us here. Over the years, we’ve had the chance to work alongside incredible people — from fellow artists and designers to restaurants, shops and makers — each collaboration adding something special to our story. Just as meaningful has been the everyday rhythm of the studio: students learning clay for the first time, friends dropping by, and the conversations that shaped our work as much as the pieces themselves..
And while this is a big transition, we still have a little time left in Kingston. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be wrapping up the studio (with plans to close by the end of October), offering our final workshops — so if you’ve been thinking about taking a class, now’s the moment — and organizing a big studio sale of both ceramics and equipment (feel free to reach out if you’re interested in anything).
This next chapter feels full of possibility, we have so many ideas brewing for L’Impatience in France, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Most of all, thank you, for supporting us, collecting our work, showing up, and cheering us on. Your support has meant the world, and we’re so grateful to have shared this journey with you.
With love,
Benedicte & Jerome ♥️
