I woke up today feeling my Dad close.
He passed away six years ago from Covid. Perfectly healthy.
I don’t share much about my personal life on this page, so if I only do it once or twice a year, this is going to be one of them. I hope it inspires someone who might be feeling the same way that I have been.
I’ve been feeling very overwhelmed lately. Between trying to get everything in order with my upcoming installation season, preparing for an upcoming news segment, trying to be a good mom, keep up with kids sports & school work, keep up with house work, take care of my health, make sure my husband knows he exists & that I like him, be there for my friends… all the things.
I felt so much comfort in feeling my Dad was with me this morning, but at the same time, so much grief because I wished more than anything that I could get one of his big bear hugs in person.
I went to church still feeling him close. Church was business as usual, until the opening song…which just happened to be my dad’s very favorite one. (“Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing.”)
Game over. The emotions that were already just under the surface all morning came spilling out. I felt him with me even more, and I just ugly cried.
Grief is strange like that. Sometimes the moments that bring me the most comfort are also the ones that make me miss him even more.
My friend’s precious daughter was sitting near me in the same pew. When she noticed my blubbering mess, she wrote me a note on her doodle pad (swipe to see.)
I just really loved & needed this reminder today: that heaven is always close & God will always send us what I like to call, “hugs from heaven” when we need them most.
Thanks God, Thanks Dad🤍
Love you all, friends ❤️
