Hi, Amy,
Yesterday I cheated and had two of your poppy seed hamantaschen before Purim. Delicious! The poppy seed filling was great and supported by dough that kept the filling in place so the cookie crumbled in my mouth, not before. I tasted a hint of lemon, which added to the flavor but didn't overwhelm it. Similar to my mother's (she folded the cookie to close at the center) which brought back fond memories.

My favorite part of preparing for Shabbat is baking the challah. Each Friday, I wake up early and prepare the dough. While it’s rising, I make breakfast for the family, help our boys get dressed, and drop off everybody at school. By the time I return home, the dough has risen and is ready to be braided. Then the challahs rise a second time. Finally, they are ready to go in the oven, and our house fills with the sweet smell of Shabbat.
