Design needs for unexpected reasons…
We acquired a cat in May of this year, her name is Alley. We’ve all heard the Christmas Tree horror stories.

I’m trying to avoid the YouTube videos of cats climbing inside, knocking over the tree & breaking my precious ornaments.

I’ve decided to change things up for the tree this year using nature.
- Lights
- Palm fronds
- Pine cones & garland

Palm Fronds: I’ve seen them sell in stores, why buy them when you can make your own.
Supply List -
A utility knife
Scissors
Work gloves
Spray Paint

Run your knife down the stem to remove the large thorns 3/4ths down the stem.
Break off the stem about 8 inches from the fronds.
Using the knife trim the fronds (use the scissors for a more refined trimming & do this outside as it’s messy)

If you have Pine walls and feeling like a change. GREAT NEWS, you can paint them.
There are a few rules to follow for the best adhesion, longevity with no bleed through.

* First clean with TSP then lightly sand the area you are painting to make the pine smooth - wipe the sanding dust away.

* PRIMER is a necessity - Use a Shellac based primer like Zinser BIN or Zinser Bullseye 1-2-3; use 2 COATS / these seal the pine from bleeding into the topcoat.
* Now you are ready for your topcoat.
Keep in mind it can take up to 45 days for the paint to fully cure which means no heavy scrubbing and be gentle with the walls when moving furniture.

A beautiful light cream white looks amazing when you keep the ceilings natural.
