Here's a non-sponsored post for your algorithm, in case yours isn't quite as gifted as mine. Pun absolutely intended. Get it? Our candles make great gifts.

Dear Facebook Algorithm,
Dude. We need to talk.
I appreciate that you know I own a candle business, but I think you've taken this relationship a little too far.
Every time I open Facebook, I'm being bombarded with ads from every candle maker on the planet announcing their Christmas collections. Christmas candles! Holiday candles! Festive wax! Look at our jars!

I KNOW. I MAKE THEM. I'M LITERALLY MAKING HUNDREDS OF THEM.

If there's one thing I do NOT need more of in my life, it's candles. My house looks like a very fragrant fire hazard with a small business attached.

What I DO need in my feed:

1. Short-legged dogs doing absolutely nothing.

2. Muscles. You know what I mean. Preferably attached to a man.

3. Food. Recipes, restaurants, baked goods. I'm not picky.

4. More short-legged dogs. Just to be safe.

Facebook, I support small business. I AM small business. But can we please stop trying to sell me candles and start showing me the important things in life?

Sincerely,
The Waxing Crescent PNW
Currently drowning in Christmas inventory and minding my own wax.
See you this weekend! Where you can buy some great handmade items for everyone on your shopping list.

*Real picture of a real product for attention. It smells just like a REAL Christmas tree 😉*

If you need me, I'll be over here questioning my organizational skills and wondering if I still have fingerprints after all this handwashing.
400+ car diffusers DONE.

I'm now almost totally sort of done with holiday market prep (a very technical maker term for "there's probably still a million things left to do").

Next stop: 34th Annual Homemade for the Holidays!

November 6th & 7th
Thurston County Fairgrounds

The Waxing Crescent PNW is coming in HOT. Well, not literally. We make candles, not fires... usually.

Come shop handmade, support small businesses, and help us justify all these questionable life choices!

Holiday shopping season is right around the corner, and if you’re still planning to do all your shopping at the big-box stores, I’m going to need you to hear me out.

Your local holiday markets are where the GOOD STUFF is hiding. One-of-a-kind handmade gifts, creative local makers, and things you simply won’t find on every other shelf in town.

The Waxing Crescent PNW will be there with 52 different candle scents. FIFTY-TWO! Plus, a huge selection of car diffusers to keep your vehicles smelling fantastic long after the holiday decorations come down.

Come explore, find your new favorite fragrance, and cross some names off that holiday gift list. Whether you’re shopping for the candle lover, the hard-to-buy-for person, or yourself (because you deserve nice things, too), there’s something here for you.

A little friendly reminder: handmade goodies don't last forever! Many items are made in limited quantities, and once a favorite sells out, there's a good chance it won't be back before the holidays.

Every purchase from a small business makes a real difference. You’re supporting real people, their creativity, and the dreams they’re working hard to build- not a giant corporation’s next quarterly earnings report.

Catch The Waxing Crescent PNW at these upcoming holiday markets:

34th Annual Homemade for the Holidays
Hosted by South Sound Makers Market
November 6–7
Thurston County Fairgrounds and Event Center

5th Annual Holidays in the Northwest

Christmas candle season is calling, and it smells REALLY good.

Three additional holiday scents are making their way into the Waxing Crescent collection, including a returning favorite you’ve been asking for.

Winter Wonderland - Imagine walking through a forest of evergreens just after a fresh snowfall. Crisp, woodsy, and like stepping straight into a Christmas postcard.

Mulled W**e- A returning favorite for so many of you! Orange peels, cinnamon, warming spices, and rich red w**e. Basically, Christmas in a mug… without having to share.

Silent Night- For those nights when the outside world can wait. Christmas movies, warm cookies, your favorite pajamas, and absolutely no plans to leave the house. Grapefruit and rosemary bring a fresh, bright opening, followed by rose, vanilla, and sandalwood. Cozy, comforting, and made for a little holiday hibernation.

Find The Waxing Crescent PNW at Homemade for the Holidays!

November 6–7, 2026 Expo Hall
Thurston County Fairgrounds and Event Center

All three new holiday scents will be available alongside the ENTIRE Waxing Crescent collection.

Come smell your way into the holiday season. I'll be waiting, so you know the drill…

Looking for something spooky that doesn’t pack up and disappear when Halloween is over? Meet my skull car diffusers. These creepy little troublemakers deliver 90+ days of fragrance, meaning they’ll keep haunting your space long after the candy bowl disappeared and the trick-or-treaters have gone home.
Packaged to gift, or to keep for yourself. They store in a cool dark place for 2+ years!

Choose your poison:

Haunted Woods — for those who prefer the smell of a forest on a warm evening
Cereal Killer — dangerously delicious Fruit Loops
Poison Apple — sweet, sinister, and definitely not approved by Snow White.
Resting Witch Face — some of us are spooky all year, not just in October. (cashmere cedar)

I’ll have a limited supply available this Saturday at the 3rd Annual Haunted Market at Historic Parkland School, 10 AM–4 PM.

Once they’re gone, they’re gone. I can't summon an army of tiny skull-producing goblins in my workshop more than once. The pup's would never allow it.

Come find your favorite before they disappear into the fog. And remember, 90+ days means these little weirdos are in it for the long haul.

The Waxing Crescent PNW — keeping things creepy, one skull at a time.

This Candle is Haunted.
Light at your own risk. Seriously.

Some candles set the mood. This one might have unfinished business.

A wicked little blend of bitter grapefruit and fresh rosemary opens the netherworld, followed by dark rose and moss creeping in from somewhere other than this world. Crushed cumin, creamy vanilla bean, and sandalwood settle in for a warm, earthy finish that smells suspiciously like something is lurking in the shadows.

Fragrance Notes:
Top: Grapefruit, rosemary
Middle: Rose, dark moss
Bottom: Crushed cumin, vanilla bean, sandalwood

Hand-poured with care. Possibly occupied by something that doesn't pay rent or contribute to the utilities bill.

We're not saying the candle is "haunted". We're just saying the lights flickered while we were making it, and we're not asking questions.

Expect cold spots, unexplained noises, and the occasional feeling that someone is standing directly behind you. Or maybe that's just the caffeine wearing off. Who can say?

Light at your own risk. The Waxing Crescent PNW accepts no responsibility for ghostly roommates, paranormal activity, or whatever just whispered your name from the hallway.

If the flame flickers with all the windows closed, that's between you and the spirit world.

Pick one up (if you dare) this Saturday at the 3rd Annual Haunted Market at the Historic Parkland School hosted by South Sound Makers Market https://www.facebook.com/share/1Dsg3Lgqoh/

4 years on Etsy. Almost 6 years making candles. What started as a little COVID hobby turned into something I never expected.

3,928 sales. A 4.9-star average item review. And a whole lot of wax, fragrance oil, late nights, and love poured into this little business.

As much as I'd love to keep my shop open long enough to catch those last 72 sales I’m anticipating this weekend, my Etsy shop officially closes Friday, October 9th at 11pm.

I'm proud of what I've built, grateful for every single person who has supported my small business, and more than ready to stop paying a platform that seems determined to charge me for the privilege of making a sale.

The candles aren't going anywhere. I'm just done with Etsy.

And honestly? That feels pretty damn good.

Well… I think it’s time we had the talk.
Etsy and I are breaking up.
It’s not me. It’s… actually, it’s a lot of things.
The constant fees. The ever-increasing costs of shipping. A questionable review system where one bad experience can carry more weight than all the happy customers combined. It's the wild west how rules are enforced over there. My shop gets penalized for using the words "notes of Amber" while full on resellers of junk made in China, and drop shippers run rampant.
At some point, the relationship starts to feel a little less “small business platform” and a little more “abusive relationship where I keep handing over money and hoping nobody gets mad at me or leaves a bad review.”
So, I’m stepping away from Etsy.
My Etsy shop will officially close Friday, October 9th.
I’m not entirely sure where my online shop will land yet, and honestly, I’m okay with that. I’d rather take my time and figure out what actually makes sense for my little business than jump from one platform to another just because I feel like I’m supposed to have an online shop.
In the meantime, I’m still happy to take private orders. Just send me an email at [email protected] and we’ll figure it out.
For now, I’m focusing on the part of this business that I genuinely LOVE: making candles, meeting customers, hanging out with other makers, and getting ready for the fall and holiday markets.
And honestly? I’m having a damn good time.
So, if you’ve been shopping with me on Etsy, thank you. Truly. You helped get The Waxing Crescent PNW to where it is today.
The Etsy chapter may be closing, but the feral candle making chaos is very much continuing.
More details on where you’ll be able to shop online coming eventually.
For now… I have candles to make and markets to get ready for.
