Designing a kids’ bedroom in an older home comes with a different approach.

In this 1890 Mt. Gretna summer house, the original pine walls already bring so much warmth and character. Instead of covering that up, we leaned into it.

The goal was to create a space that still feels classic and connected to the home, while bringing in subtle nods to what he loves, tennis and being outdoors.

It’s that balance of honoring the home while making it feel personal and livable for your family.

If you’re drawn to homes with character but don’t know how to make them work for everyday life, I’d love to help. Visit my website to get started!

When designers walk into a home, we often notice a few small details right away.

Furniture scale
Lighting placement
Artwork height
How the rooms connect

None of these things are dramatic on their own, but together they play a big role in how balanced and comfortable a space feels.

If you're hoping to create a home that feels thoughtfully planned and finished, I’d be happy to help guide that process!

Most people assume the hardest part of designing a kitchen is choosing finishes.

In reality, the most important decision happens much earlier.

The layout determines how the kitchen functions day to day.

Where appliances go.
How people move through the space.
How cooking actually happens.

When the layout is thoughtfully planned, the rest of the design decisions become much easier.

If you're thinking about renovating your kitchen and want guidance through the design process, you can learn more about working together on my website.

One of the most helpful things you can do before starting a renovation is develop a clear plan for the sequence of decisions.

When everything happens in the right order, contractors can move forward more efficiently and homeowners feel much more confident about the direction of the project.

Layout first.
Then cabinetry.
Then lighting and materials.

Taking the time to plan ahead makes the entire process much less stressful.

If a renovation might be in your future, I'd love to help!

Every home tells you something the moment you walk through the door.

Before thinking about furniture, finishes, or lighting, I usually pause and notice a few things that help guide the direction of the design.

The ceiling height
The natural light
How the rooms connect
And how the family actually lives in the space

Understanding these details first helps ensure the design supports the home rather than competing with it.

If you enjoy seeing the thinking behind thoughtful design, I love sharing more of that here.

Most living rooms don’t need more décor.
They need better layout, warmer lighting, and correct scale.

My clients are usually tired of guessing and moving furniture around.

I walk in, see what’s off, and create a clear plan.

Many of my clients come to me after trying to make decisions on their own and feeling frustrated that their home still doesn’t feel finished or cohesive.

They’re busy, they want their home to feel warm and welcoming, and they don’t have the time or desire to second-guess every purchase or renovation decision. They want a clear plan and confidence that each choice works with the bigger picture.

My role is to help you create that plan so your home feels intentional and layered, evolving over time while always feeling cohesive and thoughtfully designed.

If you’re ready for your home to finally feel pulled together instead of pieced together, I’d love to help you get started.

Many homeowners get stuck choosing between options like Roman shades and woven shades because both look good on their own, but it’s hard to know what will actually work best in the space.

Roman shades tend to feel more tailored and structured, especially when layered with drapery, while woven shades bring texture but can read more casual or visually heavier depending on the room.

The right choice really depends on the architecture, the mood you want to create, and how finished you want the space to feel overall. Without a bigger plan, these decisions can feel surprisingly stressful.

If you’re second-guessing choices like this, it’s usually a sign the room needs a clearer direction. I’d love to help you step back, create a plan, and make decisions that bring your whole space together.

One of the most common things I hear is, “We bought furniture, but the room still doesn’t feel right.”

Usually the problem isn’t the furniture. It’s the layout.

When I design a living room, the first step is always space planning. I’m thinking about how your family moves through the room, where people naturally sit and gather, how traffic flows, and how the space connects to nearby rooms.

Once the layout works, choosing furniture becomes much easier, and the whole room starts to feel comfortable and intentional instead of crowded or unfinished.

If your space still feels off, a clear plan can make all the difference before you buy another piece of furniture.

✨ Designing a kitchen that’s beautiful and functional starts with the right details.

If you love to cook but want a space that feels calm and seamless, these two upgrades are game changers:

Induction range: fast, precise, and safe for families.
Panel-ready dishwasher drawer: blends right into your cabinetry for a clean, elevated look.

It’s all about creating a kitchen that fits your lifestyle, not just what’s trending.
