Right now life has been really hard, it’s been hard to get anything done, to have any motivation, and I’ve felt behind and like I’m failing in most areas of my life. Sometimes it’s hard to get perspective. Today I’m thankful that I went to counseling even when I didn’t feel like it.

Also, just a friendly reminder that smiles in social media photos doesn’t mean that is what life is like all the time.

Thankful today for renewed perspective and hope.

To be born here…
My summer reading has been full of books on women in ministry and leadership and how women are treated not just in our western world but around the globe.
It brings perspective!
I love my town of Lancaster (Lanc Lanc to some) and while sometimes I can focus a lot on all the areas we have yet to grow as a nation in regards to treating women in and out of the church and workplace, I’m also very grateful to have gotten the opportunity to be born and live here, with all the freedom it’s brought me and the privilege that I don’t always recognize a lot of times. It’s got a ways to go, but I would love to see this place be one that can set the example of empowering and emboldening women!

Thank you! Tonight a friend handed me this envelope saying she really wanted to invest into my business, she knew I wanted to get a printer (hoped to for the last 2+ years) so that I could start offering physical products of my designs- art prints for motivation, prayer cards as a reminder of what God says about us for around the home, greeting cards to encourage and send to a friend, and stickers 🤗 cuz everyone loves stickers!

So in awe of her generosity and her being in tune with the Holy Spirit as He put this on her heart and she prayed into it. Thank you for your desire to invest into my small business and for believing in me!

Find (maybe search) yourself some lovely people in your life who uplift and encourage you through the good and the challenging, the building or rebuilding.

Almost canceled my counseling appointment yesterday thinking I didn’t have 101 things pressing at the front of my mind like when I made the apt a few days prior. But this allowed space for me to bring up some even deeper things / patterns to work through, this was the most insightful and challenging time, that I can’t believe I almost didn’t go to! It truly left me with a lot to work on, but with so much hope and changed perspective, which is often needed as someone who can easily think negatively or lack motivation. It allowed space to not just confront all the things right up front, but realize what’s behind them. Powerful!

So thankful for my mentors, counselor, family, and friends who’ve become family who speak into my life, who encourage, challenge and pray for me!

Breathing Exercise: In 2017 I spent a summer in Pattaya, Thailand, the s*x tourism capital of the world with an organization combatting s*x trafficking. One guest speaker who came to teach about how the body and mind are affected trauma had us lay on the floor and practice different breathing techniques.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As someone who can get overwhelmed and has dealt with even more serious anxiety in the past. The one breathing exercise that always sticks with me is the box method. In my head I always envision a square, I start on the left side and count up four, across the top I hold my breathe for four, then I breathe out for four more counts drawing the third line of the square down. To close the square: the final four count is a rest and then you can repeat. The act of counting and I think for me envisioning the square and also activity focusing on breathing does wonders for calming.
