Came out okay...

Living room - brand new LG G6 77" OLED, Focal 302 on walls for LCR, Focal 300 ICA6 surrounds. Ended up with an RBH Sound 12" compact subwoofer because the Focal Sub600 wouldn't fit! Used client's existing Denon receiver and Blu-ray player (which contributed to the Focal sub not fitting!). The subwoofer/AVR cubby didn't exist when we started.

Second room: used client's existing 77" Samsung OLED. Anthem MRX-SLM hidden behind the TV for power. Focal 301 on walls for LCR, Focal 300 ICA6 for surrounds. Focal Sub Air tucked behind the couch. Sounds amazing in a small room!!

Also hung another existing TV in the master bedroom with an LG soundbar and sub, and a little TV in the kitchen with a tiny LG soundbar as well.

A lot of moving outlets, cutting open walls to route wires and build shelves, patching, texturing, and repainting - this was a much bigger job than the equipment list would indicate!

AI goofed up the building shape and a few other details, and it can't seem to get our logo right to save the world. But the overall concept is pretty spot on!

Due to a bunch of crazy happenings, the showroom construction is starting over a year late, but these concept images were just submitted with our permit application! We can't wait to show Las Cruces what we mean when we say "custom home theater & hifi"!

Honest answer from an audiophile-owned shop: it depends on the cable type.

HDMI, optical, coaxial — these carry digital signals. Either the data gets there or it doesn't. A $10 HDMI cable that meets the spec performs identically to a $150 one. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Analog interconnects and speaker cables — this is where it gets more nuanced. Signal quality, conductor material, shielding, and build quality can have a real impact, especially in a resolving system. You don't need to spend a fortune, but going too cheap here can introduce noise and affect the sound you worked hard to achieve.

The rule we go by: spend your money on the components first. Then use quality cables that are appropriate for the job — not boutique marketing, not bargain-bin either.

Your TV has an HDMI ARC port. Your receiver has an eARC port. Are they the same thing? Not exactly.

ARC (Audio Return Channel) sends audio from your TV back to your receiver or soundbar over a single HDMI cable — no separate optical cable needed. It works, but it's limited to compressed audio like Dolby Digital 5.1.

eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) is the upgrade. Same idea, but with dramatically more bandwidth — enough to pass lossless audio formats like Dolby TrueHD and DTS:X. If you want true Atmos from your TV's apps, eARC is what makes it possible.

The bottom line: if your TV and receiver both have eARC, use it and use the right cable. If only one does, you'll default to standard ARC — and leave quality on the table.
