Happy Saturday!

1) Thank goodness for this delightfully cool garage, all thanks to my wonderful husband!! The mini-split was the best investment!

2) working hard finishing custom work. This sign had me in analysis paralysis for far too long. It’s a very large outdoor sign for a very special customer. I’m making slow but steady progress and I’m excited to show yall the finished look.

I will then be working on prep for upcoming markets. I have non stop markets starting in Mid-October, so I really need to get started on inventory. Hard to think about Christmas when it’s hot outside. I noticed the trees changing up near Home Depot yesterday, so Fall IS coming.

Listen closely. Somewhere beyond the stillness, a loon is calling.

Inspired by the quiet beauty of the water and the unmistakable song of the loon, this one of a kind art piece is handcrafted from a carefully selected collection of natural hardwoods.

Layer by layer, each element is cut, shaped, and assembled to create a scene with remarkable depth. The loon is intentionally elevated above the water, giving it the illusion of floating upon the surface. This effect reveals itself beautifully as you move around the piece.

Finished in a professionally crafted rustic black frame and ready to hang, this approximately 18” × 18” work of art brings the warmth, texture, and character of real wood into your space.

Turn up the sound. Let the loon call you to the water.

Created for those who appreciate natural materials, exceptional craftsmanship, and art that feels as timeless as the landscape that inspired it.

Almost there - I feel like the finish line is right there but I keep tripping! Haha I keep getting up - literally - and I’m determined to finish this damn thing already so I can get back to work!

08/16/2026

Hello friends and Happy Sunday. I thought about this post and waffled a bit about sharing. Many of you know me personally, and know that I believe in God. You won’t often hear me talk about my faith, but it’s there in the background, guiding my interactions with all of you (the Golden Rule and greatest commandment - love God and love others), it guides my business decisions, and apparently it guides my time…

I decided to share because this business is made by me, and so each piece and project has a part of me in it; whether it’s design work, behind the scenes prep work, or just the end product.

So ANYWAY here’s the point of that introduction: the story.

Yesterday the thunderstorms were approaching - something in nature that I LOVE - yet I was in the middle of a complicated woodworking project in my driveway. Some of the pieces absolutely would be destroyed if they got wet.

I’m racing to get the project to a state in which I can move it inside (it’s too big and super heavy and we don’t have the means to move it inside yet) and realize I need parts that somehow didn’t get on the shopping list. These parts will allow me to attach casters so we can move it inside! I zoom to the hardware store down the street, just as the booms begin and raindrops are widely scattered on the windshield. Begging God to give me 45 minutes - because I KNOW He controls the wind and the waves (and the storms). Yet while inside the hardware store, the booms are getting louder! (I’m quietly begging God to let the storm move on - we will catch the next one - I just need 45 minutes!)

I’m hurrying to select the screws I need from the one billion choices, painstakingly counting and sorting… and dodging the strange man in the aisle with me who keeps repeating “sounds like it gonna rain.” (Internally I’m shouting: Yes sir but I hope you aren’t talking to me - I want to be polite and respond to you but I’m trying to beat the rain and these screws are all mixed up in the bin and I need a certain amount and your chattering is distracting me). Screws selected, sorted, bagged, and tagged-

When I get to the front to pay, I see through the windows to the parking lot that it is indeed pouring down rain. My hope is lost and I’m angry. Angry that my needs and my prayers never seem to be what God cares about. Angry that someone else wishing for rain got their prayer answered when I just needed a short delay.

I got home, and found my husband and our older neighbor had moved everything inside somehow. These two men stopped what they were doing, grabbed supplies and found a way to protect my project. I imagine the scramble was intense. I was only gone for 10 minutes!

I was angry at God and thankful for their care when I got home. I was throwing an angry tantrum - the kind that might make a sailor blush. What’s funny about this is that most people wouldn’t yell at God the way I do. I know God loves me despite my tantrum. Just as a mother loves their child when they’re tired and hangry! I’m not worried about being punished for telling God that I think His decisions are stupid sometimes. I think He smiles because He knows Im about to realize that those decisions had a purpose, one that benefits me.

I had no choice but to take a break, and I know it was God forcing me to stop and rest. Because He cares for me - He made a way to make me rest, and provided good men and supplies I didn’t know were available to protect my project.

It was a humbling realization that hope may look to be lost when it’s just a slight weather delay. (I was able to continue working on the project last night and I’ll finish today - God willing 🙂 )

As I’m waking up this morning, I hear the booms again, but I was able to move everything back inside last night when I was done working - just in case more thunderstorms were on the way overnight. Sounds like I’ll get a bit more rest today before finishing this project!

Thanks Girl for the inspiration from Acts 27 this morning!
