🍭 Eye Candy Quilts, where the fabric is everywhere and the quilts are piled high. And we'll make pretty things any chance we get.

🍭 I figured it was time for a little reintroduction. We're Eye Candy Quilts, aka the dynamic mother daughter quilting duo from Nebraska. We've been designing and writing quilt patterns for 16 years (I wrote and sold my first pattern when I was 21) and we've added things like fabric design and teaching and templates and enamel pins to our 'things we've done' list.

🍭 We have a newsletter where I send out a discount code for a pattern every month, and make new patterns when we want. But also it's just laid back. Because quilting is fun, who wants to stress about the fun stuff?

〰️ One of the coolest things about writing patterns and designing fabric has always been seeing what you make with it. Because our idea is only the starting point. Mix up the colors! Change up the fabrics! Make it your own!

πŸ‘–The short version for "can I fix these splits in my brand new jeans that I just paid a bunch for" is yes. The particulars are as follows.

πŸ‘–Option one is to find these adhesive denim patches. Cut them to size and then iron them to the inside of your jeans. You can do extra securing with stitching if you want but the patches do a good job.

πŸ‘–Option two is to basically darn them. Align the split as best you can and sew over and over it again to create your own sort of patch with thread.

🎲 We've made Game Changer out of one line (like this our Gemma fabric) and we've also done it as a complete scrap buster and pulled fabric from everything.

I think the only rule that you need when you pick fabrics for it is that you need contrast between the 4 part of the 9 patch and the 5 part of the 9 patch. But how you decide what "contrast" means is up to you. This version we kept it to colors versus neutrals. Our other version is darks versus lights. But it also works as just a two fabric quilt.

🎲 Game Changer is our Pattern of the Month for August 🎲

🎲 Fun fact, I'm a lefty and I find that either most of the cool sewing gadgets are not made for me OR I use them the wrong way and I break them. So I do my very best not to make patterns that need extra tools (but sometimes you really do need that tool, you know?). Game Changer doesn't use anything more than your regular 6" x 24" ruler that you already have to make the block.

🎲 And because we're scrap happy around here, you can make it either with fat quarters or yardage. We like to keep our options open.
