Production staff is CLOCKED IN today 😂🥚🐔 Every nesting box is occupied, supervisors are on duty, and apparently breaks are not included in this operation 🤣 I walked into the coop and found the ladies running a full-scale egg factory like they had quotas to meet.

Some are hard at work, some are pretending to work, and at least one is clearly just there for moral support 😅 The red hen standing front and center looks like management making sure everyone stays productive while the rest of the crew handles “quality control” 🐓📋

Honestly, this is the busiest I’ve ever seen the nesting boxes. It’s like rush hour in the maternity ward 😂🥚 From top shelf to bottom shelf, everybody decided today was THE day to contribute to breakfast.

Safe to say the girls understood the assignment 🧺✨ Now if only they cleaned up after themselves as efficiently as they lay eggs 😭🐔💕

PSA: The baby chick is NOT dead 😂🐥 Lil dude just absolutely face-planted into the fluffiest nap of his life and scared me half to death for a second 😅 One minute zooming around like it drank three cups of coffee, the next minute completely flopped over in my shirt snoring like it pays bills around here 💤

I swear baby chicks have two modes: full chaos tornado 🌪️🐣 or sudden dramatic collapse. No warning. No transition. Just boop… powered down 🤣

The tiny feet sticking up, the sleepy little face, the complete lack of concern for my emotional stability… honestly this little nugget has already mastered the art of relaxation 🥹💕 Safe to say he woke up a few minutes later refreshed and ready to terrorize the brooder again.

These tiny dinosaurs really know how to keep us on our toes 😂🐔💛

My husband sat down for “just a minute” and instantly became the official chicken lounge chair 😂🐔🪑 Apparently personal space no longer exists when you’re the favorite human in the flock. One on the shoulder, one in the lap, another supervising from behind… and somehow there’s still room for more 🤣

I swear these girls follow him around like he’s some kind of celebrity farmer. The second he steps outside, it’s a full-on chicken convention 🐓❤️ Meanwhile, I feed them, clean the coop, collect the eggs… and THIS is the loyalty I get? 😅

He calls it “relaxing outside,” but honestly it looks more like he’s being slowly absorbed into the flock one hen at a time 😂 At this point I’m convinced they think he’s just a weird-looking rooster with snacks in his pockets.

Not gonna lie though… seeing all our feathered girls pile onto him like this is pretty adorable 🥹🐔🧲💕

Went out to collect eggs from my little flock of 17 chickens this morning 🥚🐓 and somehow ended up doing a double take in the coop 😂 Everything looked normal at first… the girls were scratching around, the rooster was supervising like he owns the place, feathers everywhere as usual… and then I realized one of these things is DEFINITELY not like the others 👀🦃

I have absolutely no clue where this turkey came from or when it decided to move in, but apparently it has fully accepted itself as part of the flock 🤣 The chickens don’t even seem concerned anymore — meanwhile I’m standing there wondering if I accidentally adopted a whole new bird overnight.

Honestly, farm life keeps me humble because every single day there’s some new surprise waiting outside the coop 😅 One minute you’re collecting eggs, the next you’re questioning whether random poultry just spawn in your yard when you aren’t looking 🥚✨

At this point I guess I have 17 chickens… and one very confident mystery guest 🖤🦃🐔

🐀🚨 Well… came home from a weekend away and found FIVE baby rats living their best little rat lives under the feeder in our chicken coop. 🤢😩 We’ve NEVER had a rodent problem before, so walking into this surprise was absolutely horrifying. Apparently the coop turned into a free Airbnb while we were gone. 🫠🐓

They were all snuggled up in bedding right under the feeder, which makes me think spilled feed is what attracted them. Now I’m officially paranoid there are more hiding somewhere. 😭 Between the tunnels, droppings, and the thought of rats around my chickens, I’m completely grossed out.

So now I need all the advice… 👀👇
What are your best tips and tricks for keeping mice and rats OUT of the coop for good?

🐓 Feed storage ideas?
🪤 Best traps?
🚫 Ways to prevent them from coming back?
🧹 Cleaning routines that actually help?
🐭 Anything that’s worked long term for you?

Or do I just skip straight to burning the coop down and starting over? 😂🔥🏚️

🚨🐔 Mysterious chicken deaths… and I’m completely stumped. This is my current coop setup. The roosting area is about 4½ feet wide and sits roughly 4½ feet off the ground. Everything has seemed totally normal, but this week alone I’ve had 3 chickens that looked perfectly healthy suddenly die overnight. 😞

There are no signs of predators getting in at all — no wounds, no blood, no missing feathers, and none of them were egg bound. They were eating, drinking, and acting fine beforehand, then just gone by morning. 😔

I’m starting to wonder if it could be something environmental, illness-related, ventilation issues, toxins, stress, or something I’m overlooking in the coop setup. Posting a picture of the inside in case anyone notices something I might be missing. 🐓🏠

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas what could cause healthy-looking chickens to die suddenly overnight? Any advice or things I should check would really help. 🙏🐔

Tiny fluff, tiny wings, and tiny little footsteps… but somehow they still manage to steal the whole show 🐥💛✨

This sweet little chick is the definition of adorable, standing proudly with those fuzzy feathers and brand-new wing feathers just starting to grow in 🥹🐔 Every tiny peep, curious head tilt, and awkward baby step is a reminder of just how amazing these little birds are from the very beginning.

Baby chicks may look delicate, but they’re full of personality and nonstop curiosity. One moment they’re wobbling around trying to balance on oversized feet, and the next they’re zooming around the brooder like tiny feathered rockets 😂🚀 Watching them grow from soft little puffballs into full-grown chickens is one of the best parts of farm life 🌾❤️

Honestly, nature really knew what it was doing when it made baby chicks this cute 🥰🐣

Tiny wings, oversized feet, and absolutely no fear 🐥✨❤️

This little farm baby was caught mid-strut, marching across the yard like it already runs the whole place 😂 With those fluffy feathers, tiny wing stretch, and curious expression, this chick looks like a miniature dinosaur discovering the world for the very first time 🦖🌾

Life on a traditional rural farm is full of moments like this — baby chicks exploring the dirt, chasing bugs, flapping their tiny wings, and following the older birds around while learning everything about flock life. Watching them grow from fuzzy little puffballs into full-grown chickens never gets old 🐔☀️

The amount of confidence packed into such a tiny creature is honestly impressive 😅 One minute they’re stumbling over their own feet, and the next they’re sprinting around the yard like they own the farm. Baby chick season is definitely one of the cutest times of the year 💛🌿🐣

🖤🐔 Saturday night shattered my heart… 🐔🖤

We lost our sweet little Polish mama and the clutch of eggs she had been faithfully sitting on 💔🥚. She stayed devoted to those babies day and night, protecting them the best she could, and I truly thought we still had more time 🥺. Walking outside to scattered feathers across the dirt and grass was absolutely heartbreaking. The silence where she used to cluck softly to her eggs feels unbearable 😞🌧️.

Anyone who says “they’re just chickens” has never loved them the way backyard chicken owners do 🐓💕. These birds become family. You learn their personalities, their little sounds, their routines, and somehow they quietly work their way into your heart. Losing her so suddenly — and losing all the babies she was waiting to hatch — hurts more than I can explain 🥀🥚.

Nature can be cruel sometimes, and after this… I can honestly say I do not like foxes 🦊💢. I know they’re just surviving too, but it doesn’t make this loss any easier. Rest easy, sweet girl 🤍🐔. You were loved more than you’ll ever know.
