2023 was the year that Penny & Drum morphed into it’s hotter, younger sister: Perry & Drum. Our soft opening was highlighted by the new Bermuda Triangle candle but don’t be fooled, this was never ever a tourism based product line. This new year will have us flexing our creativity like never before! SO MANY amazing scents to come. Watch this space as we take off! 🦋🦋🦋

As we inch towards this year's winter solstice- the shortest day of the year, let us ponder what it means to be in the dark. It is temporary. The light always returns because we are capable of rebirth, even in the darkest of moments. The path through is by literally turning towards the sun, and maintaining faith that this too will pass. This is what the Being the Light campaign is all about. This is why I chose and for this honor. Because they literally embody what it means to look for the light, every single day.

Rainer Maria Rilke, the 19th-century German poet wrote this advice to a young, aspiring poet. Only then, Rilke said, would his writing become great. I believe this to be true for all of us. We too can become great when we explore the depths of our souls, striving to live in the light, by embracing the darkness too. Get to know yourself fully. Live whole. Be true to yourself and reject any messages from society that diminishes your innate humanity. We all have a purpose and deserve to be here.

One of Bermuda Triangle’s main ingredients is Orris, the root of the infamous ‘bearded’ iris, the type famously painted by Vincent Van Gogh. According to BBC’s article on the flower, “The World’s Rarest Perfume Ingredient”:

“Ancient Greeks and Romans bottled it as essential oil. Innkeepers scented their linens with it centuries ago. Today, orris can be found throughout the world: as a flavour in tinctures, medicinal syrups and spice mixes; as a base note for aromatic spirits and cosmetics; as an iconic fragrance in perfumes and potpourris. And it can cost more than gold.”
